Oximeter information

Post by mystydragonfly » Sat Dec 21, 2013 6:04 pm

Does an oximeter report the amount of time (seconds, minute(s) that you stop breathing during an event as well as the saturation of your oxygen levels?

All it does is measure your oxygen levels... it knows nothing about apnea or any other diagnosis.

mysty, a good recording oximeter will show heart rate and oxygen levels throughout the night. So it will show you the data you want, i.e., where your bpm and o2 levels were and for how long. I'm out of town right now but maybe someone can post a screenshot of an oximeter report for you. It doesn't identify apnea events as such but it can flag changes in bpm and o2 that reach a certain threshold.
