Serves me right for straying from this website. Had searched on resmed to download data. The apneaboard.com offers "clinician setup" manuals. The path looked like this:
1) http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-p ... tup-manual
Then —
2) http://www.apneaboard.com/resmed-s9-cpap-setup
Then —
3) From this page => To get the Clinician Setup Manual for your CPAP Machine CLICK HERE
Upon opening the download I saw other programs being installed; had to hold down the main power button to turn off my Windows 8 machine. Restarted directly to the UNINSTALL utility where "sort by date" revealed 3 programs that were each tricky to uninstall because of navigation ploys trying to mislead...
Had difficulty getting rid of mysearchdial because it installed an extension in my browser. That required web searches for tutorials on how to delete the extension and restore the browser to the way it was.
Why would apneaboard.com being doing such a nasty thing?
Start.MySearchDial.com redirects virus is a malicious browser hijacker that installs into your Web browser without the user’s consent. It's a browser hijacker that will change your homepage and default search engine to Start.MySearchDial.com bringing you redirects, pop-ups and annoying sposored advertising...
Gee...just when I thought CPAP was a safe bunch of friends who'd help me. Didn't know you guys were spreading viruses. Next time wear a condum, huh?

Re: Malware download from apneaboard.com
This sounds implausible and certainly wasn't my experience. If you had a problem at ApneaBoard why don't you tell them so they can investigate instead of bad mouthing them here?

It did not say "download". It said "read". You opened up the ad:smarter_than_I_look wrote:Upon opening the download...

and it did exactly what it said it would do. Send you ads.
"smarter_than_I_look", eh?
Time for a jnk poll...

That said, one could install the Google Ad-Blocker plugin so you don't even see the ads:

but frankly, I think this is getting kinda stupid.
I mean, why do I need to install stuff so I DON"T see stuff that I don't (and nobody in their right mind) want to install?

Verne,
There's nothing wrong with apnea board. It's you who clicked on an advertizement, and downloaded a program from an external ad.
Had nothing to do with apnea board.
