First, insurance won't cover my wife's machine because she did not meet the standard for non-rem events. Even though the doc said the reason she was waking up was due to the events. Soooo....
Once I told him we would be purchasing the machine given insurance won't cover it, he wrote the following:
Treat for autocapable CPAP = 6-12.
Cflex of 3 (this is specific to respironics machines though I believe.)
I have been a cpap patient myself for over 4 years.
I was thinking the S9 autoset would be the right machine since it is APAP. The one thing I don't really know is how it will come set from an online purchase? And, will we be able to set it appropriately to the 6-12? Or, how will that work? And, what is the equivalent CFlex of 3 on the S9?
Thanks in advance.
Need Advice - S9 Autoset
Re: Need Advice - S9 Autoset
I'll be honest and say that how the machine will arrive from the on-line CPAP store may vary from place to place. Contact the store by phone or "IM" them before you make the purchase. In any case, getting a copy of the clinical manual should not be an issue and with the clinical manual you will be able to set the pressure up as per the doc's instructions. It's not hard to do.jucs wrote: I was thinking the S9 autoset would be the right machine since it is APAP. The one thing I don't really know is how it will come set from an online purchase? The Flex system on the PR System One works differently than the EPR system on the Resmed S9 system does. But in general a Flex setting of 3 is the "max" exhalation relief setting. The "equivalent" setting on the S9 Autoset would be to set EPR = 3. Note that when the pressure is at 6 cm, however, the pressure will only drop to 4cm on the exhalations because the S9 will not drop the pressure below 4cm under any circumstances. And, what is the equivalent CFlex of 3 on the S9?
Finally just a note: You'd save yourself a tidy bit of cash by buying the PR System One REMstar Series 60 Auto CPAP with AFlex rather than the Resmed S9 AutoSet. You'd still get a full data APAP and you'd still be able to use SleepyHead to analyze the data. The System One's on-board LCD data is not as rich as the S9's, but right now our host is charging $200 MORE for the S9 AutoSet than they're charging for the System One Series 60 Auto CPAP. And $200 is not a trivial amount of money.

If you buy it from cpap.com it will come set according to your prescription that you sent to them.
