Free REMstar Auto M Series A-FLEX machine
Free REMstar Auto M Series A-FLEX machine
I have a Respironics REMstar Auto M Series with A-FLEX machine (with heated humidifier) to give away to someone who needs it. This machine is a discontinued product, but you can read details about it here:
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/remsta ... -flex.html
I used the machine from about February 2007 to April 2008, then retired it to use as a back up machine if needed, as I purchased an S8 ResMed AutoSet. I have just purchased an S9 ResMed AutoSet, so my S8 will be my backup.
The REMstar machine has 2,900 blower hours on it. I have the user manuals for the machine and humidifier, the provider set-up guide, a smart card, and the carrying case. I'd like to send the machine to someone who does not have insurance coverage and can't afford the out-of-pocket cost of a CPAP machine.
If you have a need for this machine, please send me a PM.
JZ

Just because this machine is discontinued does not mean its not a good machine. I use one daily as do others on the forum... if you do not have insurance and no way to purchase one... go for it.

Wow, very generous of you JZ! I hope someone without PAP therapy is paired up with your machine and gets therapy they need. Great example of paying it forward, something the members of this forum do regularly for so many who come here looking for help .

nanwilson is correct -- this is a good machine.
2 B Sleeping Soundly -- I will never be able to fully pay forward what this forum has given me. There is not a doubt in my mind that I would have failed on CPAP without cpaptalk.com.

Re: Free REMstar Auto M Series A-FLEX machine
For anyone wondering about this model machine. It was my first ever machine. It's a great machine.
It is a full efficacy data machine (though not quite as much data collected when comparing to today's PR S1 machines) and the Smart Card and the special card reader needed to connect to the computer and thus the software...are all still available.
Smart cards for around $12, the DT3500 Infineer card reader (only one that will work) for around $45 unless you can find one on EBay for less..and software can be obtained at no cost if you know who to ask.
The detailed graphs show AHI...Obstructive apneas, Hyponeas...Flow limitations when used in auto mode, snores, and non responsive events...as well as the typical pressure and leak graphs that we see on the current machines.
SleepyHead will not work with the M series machines at this time. Mark just now got a card reader to see if he would figure out how to make the M series machine work with SleepyHead...so no promises on it but Encore software is still available that works with this machine.
What it does NOT give is wave form flow rate graphs, Clear Airay (central) flagging or RERA flags.

Re: Free REMstar Auto M Series A-FLEX machine
Jz has generously offered this machine to a senior citizen with a worn out machine of 15 years. He doesn't have insurance, can not afford a sleep study , has been terrified his old machine will quit at anytime. He is a struggling potter who works from home without any assistance, self sufficient , and very intelligent . He saw his problem long ago and his sister gave him her unused machine, he could bring the house down with his snoring. He was bright enough to dial in his old machine
to make a wonderful difference in his life and health. And this on a machine that had to be set with a screw driver .
He tried to tell me years ago when I was in denial to get on it . He is also a kind-good family man so Jz could be proud that its going to a good home .
We All should be so lucky to pass on our extra equipment to those who do really need it . Not always an easy thing to do either. I see others on here doing good things and I applaud you all . It takes tact and a large effort to get it done.

Re: Free REMstar Auto M Series A-FLEX machine
I've got an old PR M-series and it's a solid workhorse with some good data if you buy the card reader etc. I'm now inspired to give my M-series away next year after I get an older model ASV machine for backup- mostly to cover for my current S9 ASV Adapt 36007 which will need a recommended annual calibration by this springtime.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
