Hello All, I'm using a Trancend parttime and in looking at the data I'm wondering if I could please get some input.
Average AHI is 1.49
Leak 9.95
Ah events all over the board .. Some nights 26 some 6.
I'm considering upgrading to the new Auto Transcend but in the meantime will bumping my pressure up help. I'm at 8 cmH20 now.
Thanks for the input

Re: Help with setting pressure for AHI
FYI all other nights I use Auto Cpap ( Devillis )
I have have no compliance issues and no mask problems. Over 10000 hours on the auto and only 600 on this new Trancend non auto

Re: Help with setting pressure for AHI
It is generally acceptable to see an AHI of less than 5.0.
If you are consistently seeing less than 2.0 AHI then no pressure change would typically be needed? Are you trying for 0.0? That's an unrealistic expectation IMHO. Some people do attain it but a lot more people don't.
Plus I have no idea what the Transend reports in its AHI.....if it includes centrals then we wouldn't treat those with a pressure increase no matter how many you had if that is all that you had.

Re: Help with setting pressure for AHI
No, not trying for 0 just trying to watch. I was surprised to see 26 AH events in a night. Maybe that means nothing. I know my Auto can run much higher pressure sometimes.
Having just switched from Auto to Non Auto, I don't want to diminish any benefit my Auto has given me.
Thanks

Re: Help with setting pressure for AHI
My AHI routinely will vary from 0.5 to even 5.0 (and sometimes even more) but most of the time it stays between 1.0 and 2.0.
That's good enough for me as I can't tell any difference in how I feel no matter what the AHI.
I do use an auto adjusting pressure mode because I have learned that there are times I simply need more pressure than at other times during the night...big differences sometimes. So I just leave it on auto mode and let the machine do it's job and I don't worry about it.
Changing pressures do not bother me at all. Never know it happened until I see a report.
26 events in the entire night? Over 8 hours that just 3 per hour and probably not spread out evenly but instead most likely a couple or three clusters.
When we see clusters of obstructive events we think either supine sleeping...REM stage sleep or maybe both.
Sometimes we need more pressure when sleeping supine or during REM sleep.
It's common for our OSA to be worse in REM sleep or when sleeping on our back...so maybe either more numerous events and/or maybe they need more pressure.

Re: Help with setting pressure for AHI
Ok thank you. I'm going to buy the new Auto Transcend and let it run. Pressure change does not bother me either so in the long run it will serve me better.
Best regards

Why buy a transcend. I know nothing about it, but most folks here love either a Resmed S9 Autoset or a PRS1 DS560 auto.
Software is readily available for both of them and they are known to work well.

Re: Help with setting pressure for AHI
I travel three to four days a week the choice is the best for my needs. I hauled my Devillis Auto brick for five years and this is so much nicer. Transcend is less than half the size in both weight and size. It's the small things when traveling for a living.
Silly maybe but I love the size...
