above lip feels like it is being cut
above lip feels like it is being cut
Okay, this sounds kind of weird, but sometimes, not every time, it will feel like I have glass shards in my upper lip after a night of wearing my cpap. Like I said, it is not every night, but probably 1 or twice a week. Anyone else experience this?
Re: above lip feels like it is being cut
Hard to reply to your question since we don't know what machine or mask you are using. Please fill in your equipment in your profile.

Karen; I see by another post that you have been using cpap for about a year.
Are you still using the same mask--with all its parts?
The soft material (silicone) cushions on full face and nasal masks and nasal pillows has a finite lifetime.
If your silicone is old, it may be cracked or collapsed, and the hard plastic is rubbing you sore.

Re: above lip feels like it is being cut
I get this. I reckon it's because I've got the nasal pillows so tight that the mask is rocking on my top lip and air is sometimes blowing into the top lip and aggravating it. It annoys me because it makes me look like I've got some huge spot or something, but it is a small price to pay for daytime alertness
a lot of people on here recommend lanolin, I got some and I love it too - but I think that my lip goes bad if I go to mental on it as it gives the mask licence to move around more
I think for me anyway it's about a moving mask and leaks - maybe look at that, try and improve it, stop mask moving by setting it a little above your upper lip, and if you use anything to seal, don't go overboard with it. Finally side sleeping is a great thing but if you side sleep too hard you can knock out the mask so all of that can happen, maybe invest in a pillow for cpap (which I haven't done, but I perhaps should, as my mask has injured me a couple of times)
Regards
Andy

I've got your point here chunky as wellchunkyfrog wrote:Karen; I see by another post that you have been using cpap for about a year.

It's topsy turvey for me, I was prescribed cpap by doctors, rejected it, then got worse, bought my own off the net, now I'm compliant..... !! but now I think it's time to go back to the doctors for some support with the mask. The mask I have is old because I never used it the first time round!
