Headgear allergy

Post by bendtraveler » Thu Oct 31, 2013 2:25 pm

I wear at Fisher&Paykel FlexiFit 431 full face mask; I wash the headgear periodically in warm water with mild soap; over the months I have developed an itching on the back of my neck and raised bumps that itch - has anyone had the same experience and resolved the problem?

What kind of soap and how well does it rinse out of the headgear? Some soaps leave a residue that's tough to rinse out. You may find that a mild detergent will rinse out of the headgear better and cause fewer problems.

Hand dishwashing detergent rinses very clean--it has to or stuff tastes soapy.

If a thorough rinsing doesn't help, contact Karen at Padacheek. She may be able to create some covers for the headgear that have a more breathable fabric that doesn't irritate you skin.

you are reminding me that I need to mark (ok it is already marked) - wash - rinse carefully - dry throughly - and then re-fit the mask strap system
