Thought I would share an observation that substantiates what has been stated at various times here. Humidity has an impact on how much water is used by your CPAP humidifier.
I just finished, on 10/21, a 27 day, 5710 mile trip from Idaho to the Gulf Coast on my Goldwing motorcycle. I traveled through Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas. During the trip I encountered substantially varying humidity levels, caused both by climate and rain storms. It was really interesting to note how the water consumption in my humidifier changed from night to night as a traveled about. Here at home in Idaho I use almost 1/2 tank every night. In the most humid region, southern Louisiana, I think I used probably no more than a 1/4 tank over two nights! I didn't keep accurate watch so that's my best recollection. But I know I dumped a lot of water every morning, or two, when I packed up my CPAP to move to the next stop.
Just thought I'd mention this to assure those who wonder why water consumption varies so much among the members here, that indeed room humidity is a major factor.

Re: Humidity and water consumption
I use about one gallon of distilled water in around 23 to 28 days, just doing refills. The amount of water varies from day to day on the usage, don't completely empty the water from the previous night, just refill daily. Clean daily with unscented baby wipes and everything is working ok. Wipe down mask, humidifier container , and the ports for the air. Been on CPAP for just about a year, and no problems with rainout, dust or dirt.

Re: Humidity and water consumption
I live in the desert so I fill up my tank every other morning. I never dump out what's in there either I just refill and I am all set! Very dry air here in Arizona.
