Machine failed!
Machine failed!
My machine failed yesterday. It was so loud, it sounded like a vacuum cleaner, and it used almost all the water in the tank on a setting of 2. (PR System one auto Bipap with Bi-flex (750P) I have used it for about 2 1/2 years and it has worked great. I called my DME (Lincare) and they came out in the afternoon. He checked it and said the motor was going out. He had brought out a loaner for me (PR System One C-pap Auto with A-Flex (550P). It is a new one, no blower hours on it. So, he said if I wanted to, I could keep the new C-pap machine and he would turn in my Bi-pap to be fixed. Since I used the Bi-pap as a straight C-pap anyway, I decided to do as he suggested. I used the new one last night and it is super quiet and worked just like my old one, same setup and with the smart card. Hope I did the right thing. I never could understand why they gave me a Bi-pap instead of a C-pap in the first place. Btw, the machine was paid for by Medicare.

Re: Machine failed!
Paula,
Sorry your machine went belly up. A burnt out motor shouldn't had any impact on the humidifier chamber so that puzzles me a bit. If you're happy with straight cpap, then fine. If you were using BIPAP and they wanted to switch you back to cpap...well that's a different situation. So carry on...

Re: Machine failed!
Did the bipap look like this?

Re: Machine failed!
I guess with a pressure of 18 which is pretty high, your Dr felt a bipap would be more comfortable and if your pressure needs ever increase the bipap goes to 25 and a cpap only goes to 20. Sounds like you'll have 2 good machines.Paula J wrote:My machine failed yesterday. It was so loud, it sounded like a vacuum cleaner, and it used almost all the water in the tank on a setting of 2. Re: Machine failed!
Yet another reason many of use watch craigslist or other sources for a good price on a used one. You may wait a long time for a good deal on the right machine, so start watching now.
