SH Shows Clusters of CA's...I fell terrible HELP!!

Post by stillsleepdeprived » Tue Oct 22, 2013 12:45 pm

Hello Forum,

Im having an extremely difficult time with everything......machine, mask, settings etc. I enabled Biflex 3 on my machine and sometimes a terrible air pop comes through the mask and it causes me to panic. Im not asleep when this happens (very weird). The QAir leaks and I have to continue adjusting (mask liner made it worse). I have a dull chest pain very bad in the a.m. I tried CPAP, APAP now BIPAP. I take Ativan 1MG for Anxiety. Settings: EPAP 4.0 IPAP 9.0. Not sure what else to do...Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.......Thank You

Can you post the SH report?

How many CA's?

How long were they?

stillsleepdeprived,
Because you have an anxiety prone personality doesn't mean that it's sleep related. Central apneas occur in most people during sleep transitions...falling alseep and during transition to rem sleep.

It's the depth of the apnea...measured by oximiter (Oxygen level) that determines how sever the central apneas are. So take a deep breath and relax and tell us more details.

If you are not sleeping well and panic while trying to sleep...that may be the cause of the CAs. Unless the CAs come while you are asleep and come in bunches, it may mean nothing.

Get off Ativan. Get your vitamin D levels checked or just start taking vitamin D3. You might also want to start taking the B vitamins as well. Vitamin D has powerful effects on the sleep control mechanisms of the brain.
