I've decided to buy a battery back-up for my Resp M Series for the rare camping trip + power outages. Since these are roughly the same price, any reason to pick one or the other? I've looked through the do it yourself battery solutions, but I think I'd prefer to just buy one of these kits. I generally don't use my heated humidifier, if that matters.

Battery for M Series?
Re: Battery for M Series?
You might want to read this thread and pay special attention to the posts by JohnO.

If I were going to purchase a battery...I would get the one that JohnO used...and I think that is the bestcpapprice battery that you linked to.. $299.
He was able to get multiple nights of use with it even using the humidifier.

Thanks for the link. I'll probably go with JohnO's unless someone chimes in with something negative on it.
Re: Battery for M Series?
I followed JohnO's story and the only drawback that I have ever heard about that particular battery choice was the wait list for it.
I don't know just how that battery compares to the cpap.com batter you linked to but I have this one
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/CPAP.c ... Cable.html
which has a shorter life than your first cpap.com choice (near as I can tell since I don't really understand all the lingo) and with a 50 series humidifier it won't last the night. I have to have a humidifier myself.
I figure if his 60 series machine (which uses a lot more energy than the previous models) will do so well with that battery pack system and even using the humidifier...that's the one for anyone to go with. Especially for the price.
If it was twice the price that might be one thing but it's a bit less expensive.
Just make sure you get the correct power plug thing that goes into the back of your machine. The little plug that goes into the back of the machines aren't all the same size. I forget what size the M series requires but I know that the 2 PR System One models (50 and 60 series) have different sizes.

Re: Battery for M Series?
A reasonable choice. The BestCpapPrice unit is 266 Watt-hours, which is about 20 Amp-Hours and being Lithium-Polymer weighs in about 5 pounds. The Cpap.com is lead-acid (probably AGM) and is 14.4 Amp-hours and 13 pounds. it has the advantage of being "official" Respironics and the AGM will hold its charge a long time (several months easy) but is less forgiving on repeated deep discharge. The BestCpap is more power for a third the weight so it would be more suitable for trips where you have to carry it.cajun wrote:Thanks for the link. At $300, however, there are other alternatives. If weight is not an issue (home use or "car camping") that would cover a quality 100 Amp Hour deep cycle AGM battery plus a battery charger, with change left over.

Re: Battery for M Series?
I've been very satisfied with the lithium battery from bestcpap which is where I bought mine.
Re: Battery for M Series?
Rethinking this now, and looking at other threads. I'm in good shape, and a cheapskate so I might be willing to haul around a 60 lbs battery for the 1-2 times/yr I might go camping. Looks like I can get a batt, case, charger, and cpap cables for < $200. Also, when the batt dies, I'm looking at ~$100 to replace it. With those backup kits in my links, I'm guessing you're out another full $300+ when the batt dies, assuming you're past the 12 month warranty?CapnLoki wrote:At $300, however, there are other alternatives. Re: Battery for M Series?
Some M series machines can run the humidifier off of 12V, some only work on 120VAC. The blower is always 12V.
