software - remstar m auto (64bit and linux)

Post by milo » Fri Oct 18, 2013 8:48 am

I have a Remstar M Auto and after a year have purchased a card reader. I understand Encore has the only software for my card. I'm a bit confused about the version I need. Is version 2 an update for newer cpap machines, the 64bit processor, to disable resetting my machine or all of the above? And which of the version 2's do I need?

I normally run linux on a 64bit machine. Should I just forget this from the start and stick to Windows, or are there options? (ie. running Encore under WINE) ..Windows isn't impossible just unfamiliar. Also having difficulty finding a pointer to the actual software and tutorial itself.

Help would be appreciated; meanwhile I'll start reading Pugsy's Sleepyhead tutorial. I assume the information is applicable to Encore as well.

Encore is a Windows only software. People have used it on other computers but that have to have some sort of virtual Windows set up on it.

I will send you a private message in a little bit with some information on which Encore product would work with you M series machine but it won't install on anything but Windows.
You can try running/installing it under WINE...won't hurt to try but I have no idea if it will work or not.

Here's a tutorial of sorts. Your M series machine won't gather some of the data points you see on these reports in this link below but the Basics for OA, Hyponea, Flow Limitation, Snores....pressures used...leak reported and stuff are the same no matter which machine. You won't get wave form or RERA, or CAs because your machine didn't gather those data points.
EncoreGuide link this will show you examples of what you will see. For a different machine than yours but the basics are the same.

You can also read the SleepyHead tutorial because the general information about leaks and events is the still the same over whatever machine you use. Your M series machine reports total leaks (mask vent rate plus any excess leaks)...for your machine large leak territory is going to be up around 90 L/min. Stay well below that and your leaks won't be an issue unless they are waking you up. Anything that wakes us up is unwanted.

If you need additional help with the M series reports I am familiar with them. My first machine was a M Series Auto.
