CPAP Cleaners?
Heya everyone,
I found on my "ResMed" CPAP mask manufacture to not use cleaners with bleach, chlorine, alcohol, aromatics, moisturizers, antibacterial agents or scented oils.
Can anyone give me brand(s) of cleaning products they have had luck with cleaning their masks that don't contain these products?
I'm having no luck find products that don't contain all of these ingredients.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

I disassemble my mask daily and wash under lots of warm water & a little dawn dishwashing soap

I wipe my mask down every morning using Pampers Thick Wipes for Sensitive Skin. You can also use the generic brand. Be sure the baby wipes have no alcohol or aloe. Some say "aloe juice", and thats ok. Alcohol will damage the mask plastic and aloe will leave a film. There is a Walgreens close to my work that carries cpap supplies. I get cpap wipes there when they have them. I also wash my mask every weekend with a toothbrush and baby shampoo. I then soak the mask in a plastic tub or a few hours in baby shampoo and water solution. I then rinse the mask very well. If I don’t, the baby scent will upset my tummy. Look on the mask manufacturer’s website about vinegar. Some recommend you don’t use it, but I suspect a little won’t hurt.

Hmmm. Thats what I did last night to wash my CPAP and I noticed that my face was pink today. (In the area around my mouththat was exposed to the pressurized air. Not so much the area that creates the seal or touches my face.) But then I did shave last night. I wonder if that agitated my skin. (Normally I wipe my mask down with non-scented baby wipes.)
Re: CPAP Cleaners?
Well whatever you use on your mask should be rinsed off afterward and lightly patted or air dried afterward, but I imagine the shave didn't help!

My DME said to use baby wipes every day and wash with Dawn or other dishwashing detergent once a week.

Re: CPAP Cleaners?
If the regular scent of Dawn bothers you, I found the Dawn Pure Essentials has a very mild, subtle fragrance.
Right now, I still have Method dish and hand soap that is free of color or fragrance, which I am using, but I'm not sure if it's still made.
My suggestion: look for unscented dish detergent, or even better stuff made for washing baby bottles and things.
Products for gentle or allergy use may work . Avoid conditioners, to keep the silicone good.

I have used:
Dawn Ultra Pure Essentials Dishwashing Liquid;
or Palmolive Ultra Pure Dish Liquid;
or Seventh Generation Dish Liquid, Free & Clear;
and have not had any problems.

The Seventh Generation is a great choice, too; all their products are "green".
I like green; I forget why . . .

Re: CPAP Cleaners?
Humidifier tank and hose every week with Dawn and warm water. Prefilter rinsed same time with just warm water. I wash the mask down every day with Dawn and warm water. I was having trouble with dry/flakey skin from the headgear so now I use whatever greasy stuff I can find on wifes dresser to put on face so feel the mask needs that girly goo cleaned off. This thread needs to be subsidized by Dawn as I seem to see a trend.

Re: CPAP Cleaners?
Just wet the corner of a soft towel with tap water and wipe off the nasal pillows. Then dry them with another part of the towel. I doubt that it disinfects them, but it gets the slippery skin oils off from the last night, and helps with leaks since they have traction *smile*. They get washed with warm water and a very basic dish detergent every so often, too.

Try Walgreens generic baby wipes, unscented. Contains around 78 wipes per box/container. Usually less than $5.00 per container. Use them to wipe down my CPAP equipment, and mask. No problem with skin reactions, mold growing,etc.

Target (Up and UP) sensitive skin baby wipes are aloe free.
I use them daily--the wash is for once in a while.
Cushions and pillows last longer if not over-exposed to cleaning products.

Hi,
I've posted about this before. I use Dr Bronner's liquid castile soap. Comes in peppermint, almond and a few other scents. It's a good hard water soap and rinses easily. Available online and in some major Pharmacy chains. A bottle lasts forever and is not as harsh as dish detergent.

@ JamisWolf,
This sounds interesting. Do you use the "Dr. Bronner's Sal Suds"? The rest of their products looks like they are for body & hair cleaning.

(I would think you would want a product that cleans plastics not body cleansing.)
