It seems that I am back on my Hans Rudolph and doing better thank you all.

It seems we all go through a backwards slide and I really had mine.

I find my Ultra Mirage FF to be very comfortable. I must add though that I am contemplating trying the F&P HC431. It seems that many here find it a very good choice.

I asked at my doc's office about a full-face mask and the RT strongly suggested that I stick with my activa. She said as a newbie, nasal masks are really the most comfortable and easiest to get used to. I had a trial with a breeze (still have it) but swallowed SOOOOOO much air with it. She asked me to increase my ramp time to 45 minutes and to try to be as relaxed as possible prior to bed. I do have to use a chin strap to keep my mouth shut, but I'm beginning to think she is right. At least in my case.

i think UMFF, although i'm about to give my ResMed Series 2 another try. F&P431 makes me hot and sweaty with all that silicone around the chin, and although i'm not usually claustrophobic, sometimes i wake up in a claustrophobic panic attack and the gizmo release to unattach the machine often takes a few yanks to work. (course, i don't yank too hard cuz i'm afraid the primitive thing will break, but it does sort of feel a lock in the guise of safety.) others here would disagree. see gidgie for details.

I have the F&P HC431 and find it to be quite comfortable but i did just order the Ultra Mirage FF
I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.
If I like them both I think it will be nice to be able to rotate them.

Oh!.......did I just see someone take my name in vain, Caroline? Ah, yes......The 431 and I.......still at it.......sleeping very, very well........and it is my one and only. I don't get pressure sores or anything......unless you want to count in the sore I got from the headgear.....and our wonderful Padacheek lady, Karen, fixed that problem. But the real secret to friendly mask/human relations is.......here it comes........MOLESKIN!......

I started with the Hans Rudolph one week ago, but couldn't stop the leaks consistently. Mostly leaking in the nose area, top of the bridge and below eyes. I ordered the Sensa-Seal optional part (should be included with the mask in my opinion), and that helped seal the leak below my eyes, but then the mask felt too small and pinched my nose to the point where I couldn't nose breath. I gave it back to the DME.

I have switched to a F&P HC431 and that seems much better for me. I have a goatee which makes it leak just a little, but probably less than other full face masks due to the below the chin seal feature.

I used the Ultra Mirage II for my titration test and I wasn't too happy with it. It leaked in lower face area and needed a lot of strap tightening to seal. Maybe wrong size?

Success with a full face mask is such an individual thing. It depends on your face shape and size. I appreciate the F&P HC431 because it comes with 3 sizes of seals and you can easily try a different size for an entire night of sleep if you want. That is the only true test, you have to sleep with a mask before you can decide if you can make it work.

mc68, that is what I have always said, not all masks are for everyone. You have to do a trial and error type thing for each mask until you find what works for you.
