Solved the problem I was having with dry mouth because my mouth was popping open due to pressure of 12cmH2O. I went back to my supplier and they dropped the pressure to 10cmH2O. Mouth still opens occasionally, but nothing I can't live with. I have however noticed that I am not sleeping as well on the straight CPAP unit. I felt much better when I was using the APAP. Not waking up as much. Once this month's trial is up I will go back to using the used APAP that I bought and keep the CPAP unit I will be getting as a backup. In Ontario, you have meet certain criteria to be eligible for gov't assistance on the purchase of an APAP unit and I don't qualify. If I wish to purchase a new APAP then I have to pay out of pocket and I just don't have $2,300 right now. The used one I bought doesn't have that many hours on it and it's in really good condition. If it does break down and criteria hasn't changed here then I will probably buy one in the US. If I have to pay out of pocket I'd rather pay $900 (w/ humidifier) than $2,300.
Still having a problem with leaks as they wake me up. Most leaks are because the nasal pillows are partially pulled out of my nose by the weight of the hose when I move onto my back. Not by much, but it's enough to wake me up. I do have a hose buddy and use it. The machine I have now is a loaner for the month's trial and is definitely NOT the model I am going to buy. I want something with a heated humidifier and hose. I don't like the cold air blowing in my nose. It bothers me a lot, which could also be part of the reason the leaks wake me up. Only 2 more weeks of using this machine and I can go back to the Resmed S9 Autoset I bought used. Nice heated humidity with heated hose.
Still soldiering on cuz I am determined this is going to work for me.

Can you buy from https://www.cpap.com? I bought a whole new PR One APAP with a mask, a hose cover and extra filters and the whole bill was under $700.
I can't say enough good things about them. They've given me fabulous service for 6 years. See if they can help you.
Good luck!

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

I wondering if a hose management system will help you from jerking the pillows out at night? Years back, I ended up ripping my hose while laying on it. I bought the Hose Buddy, and never looked back. I didn't think I needed it but, to this day, it's probably the best non-mask investment I've made. There have been some ingenious folks rig up homemade hose hangers. I would do a search and see what tickles my interest. Hang in there!! You are doing quite well!!

She's got a hose buddy... but in any case, why not try using the blue painters' tape - easy peel - usually recommended for lips - to secure the pillows better?
