Hello,
Ive been using a cpap machine for about one and a half years. When I left the sleep center my pressure was set at 8. Luckily I was sent home with a Resmed S9 because my pressure constantly stays at 15. I moved to a different city and had to see a sleep doctor here in order to get supplies. When I told him About my pressure staying at such a high range he scheduled me for another sleep study.
Now my main concern is seeing Central apneas showing up on my reports. They are still low numbers but I have never seen the icons before. Last night I slept for 8.47 hours. My apnea index was 1.2 obstructive was 0.6 and central 0.6. My AHI was 1.4 and Hypopnea was 0.3. Median pressure 9.8 , 95 percentile 15.5 and maximum was 18.
I am concerned why my pressure is show high compared to my first sleep study and why the new central apneas are showing up? I wonder if the higher pressure could trigger central apneas? I am still constantly tired all day long and I am trying to get this fixed!
I use the ressmed s9 with the resmed quattro fx full face mask. Heated hose with humidifier. Any information would be great.....
Central apneas showin up?

Re: Central apneas showin up?
Yes, it's possible the higher pressure might trigger a central apnea or two.
But at 0.6, it's more likely that it represents a time when you awoke during the night and then fell back asleep. We all have central apneas during the sleep/wake and the wake/sleep transitions. Your machine can not tell that you are awake, so just scores it as a central apnea. Or it might indicate a few moments when you held your breath while turning over. Or ...
In short it's not likely that this is something you should worry about.
Not feeling well rested in the morning. Yes. Do, as you are doing, pursue correction for that. But I don't think central apneas are the cause of that. Not at these numbers.

It's possible you might need a bump in minimum pressure if your Median Pressure = 9.8 and your 95%= 15.5. It could be the changing pressures are disturbing you and bumping you out of sleep stages, so if you increase your minimum to about 10 or 11 you may not feel such drastic pressure changes. Just a possiblility. Keep us posted.
