Sold: S9 Autoset (4622 hours) Looks New - $350 Free Ship

Post by STL Mark » Mon Sep 30, 2013 6:17 pm

Today I received the machine of a wonderful person who requested some help with the sale. This machine has only been used in a non smoking home. The original owner needed to upgrade to a BiPAP machine. It is a S9 Autoset with a 2011 serial number, 4622 hours and SX474-0602 software level. I have tried it out and it works fantastic. There are no abnormal sounds coming from the machine, no odors, stains, or advertising stickers. It was obviously kept in great condition and gently used. There are no scratches or breaks in the case. It comes with the H5i humidifier, Power Supply, Travel Case, new generic standard hose, humidifier chamber, and SD Card.

The machine will be shipped free to a US address or at cost outside the US. Once you receive the machine, take 48 hours to evaluate it and if you are uncomfortable with it in any way, return it to me and I will refund the original price paid once I have received the machine back in the condition sent. PM me with questions.

Most have found past models will expire between 25,000 and 35,000 hours. Since the S9 models have only existed for three years we don't have enough information at this time to provide average life expectancy. Feel free to PM with questions.

Mark....You have more experience with this than I have, but, 30,000 hours is 10 years figuring 8 hours a night. I think that's a little high.

What do you feel are the average hours that people can expect a machine to last? Remember these are not therapy hours it includes humidifier warm up and cool down time since the blower is on.

I think there are a lot of 8 and 10+ year old machines out there that are working fine. Many times machines are replaced because people want newer technology or because their insurance will buy one. So does a machine expire when it has the first need for repair, when it has a major component failure, or when the owner decides to get a new machine. A somewhat similar question to how long do automobiles last.

I would not personally buy a machine with over a year's worth of use on it.
But the price reflects that use.

But, that does not mean they will not last 10 years.

My previous Respironics brick that I now use only for travel will be 10 years old at the end of December 2013.

Other than the fact that it no longer even records the Hours of use to the card, I have NEVER had any problems with it at all.

If my math is correct, 365 days @ avg 8hrs sleep/night=2900hrs/yr so this machine has been used approx 1 1/2yrs, which is considered fairly new with less than average use. Some people sleep 9-10hrs/night. As Mark says blower time also includes warmup and cooldown hrs.
