My sleep apnea is GONE!!!

Post by mzlaura1884 » Sat Sep 21, 2013 11:24 pm

Back In July I went to my dme because I was fighting my machine! Based in the printout she said I still needed it. Well 2 months later I saw my sleep doctor he said he wanted to see what is going on so I went for a 2nd sleep study. I was told since I already had OSA I mask would automatically be put on me if I had any apneas. Well none was and obviously the tech couldn't give me the results. I still wondered in the back of my head though!!! Anyway at my follow up with him he said my sleep apnea is gone and I know longer need the machine. My 02 stayed with 97% and above with no mask, no apneas, they hot me in rem too which was my huge problem area and besides a few arousels everything looked great and nothing showed up. They got a good 5.5 hours of data. I am still in complete shock that after a year I finally rid myself from sleep apnea and mine was indeed caused from obesity. I have now lost 168 lbs and my s9 autoset found a good home along with mask of course. Just had to share my good news never give up hope!!

It is good to hear a success story now and then to remind us this can happen. I think in our zeal to make sure people don't assume weight loss is an automatic resolution to sleep apnea it's easy to lose sight of those times when it does indeed work out that way. Comgratulations, and kudos to you for doing due diligence with followup testing. Enjoy your freedom!

Congratulations mzlaura on freeing yourself from the pap machine. Losing 168lbs is not easy and you deserve all the credit in the world for your success.

Congratulations on losing the machine but especially for a huge weight loss. That took determination and hard work I am sure.

I lost 115 lbs a few years back (since regained) and it didn't change my cpap needs even though I kept the weight off for over 2 years but I am glad it made such a difference in your sleep apnea diagnosis.

Congratulations.
Here's hoping your weight loss and freedom from the hose are permanent.

Congratulations on both your weight loss and being freed from using the CPAP machine. You give me hope that I might be able to do the same.

Congratulations. Since I am 5' 11" and 158 pounds weight loss is not an option. The work and dedication to lose that much weight is almosf unfathomable. I will pray that the willpower you used to lose the weight will stay on so that you keep it off.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

That is fantastic. My wife just asked me a couple days ago "Are you going to have to use that for the rest of your life?" I didn't even think about it, I just said "Yep." I'm pretty sure mine is genetic. I don't have any of the other risk factors, so I don't know what would happen that would allow me to do without it. Great to hear that someone has worked so hard to beat their apnea and actually did it!

I'm amazed by your weight loss. That is just incredible, good for you. You should be extremely proud!!!
