Good morning, everyone.
Like many of you, I am new to all of this. I complained to my doctor earlier this summer about being tired. Even though I insisted that I slept fine, he insisted that I get a sleep study. I got my machine last Tuesday. It's a ResMed9 Autoset. My AHI was 12.8; my pressure is set to 7. I spent the first few nights convinced that the Swift FX Bella was going to kill me. Friday, I went back to the DME and they switched me to the Swift Nano. That's gone better. I'm at least making it through my insurance mandated 4 hours a night, but I think I need more humidity. I don't necessarily want to increase the temperature, just the humidity. The only setting I can find on the machine is the temperature? Is it possible to increase the humidity without also increasing the temperature? I'm tired of being tired and not being able to do the things I want to do, I need this to work.
Thanks!
Changing the Humidity on ResMed9 Autoset?

1) push down on the dial on the right of your screen once
2) you will see a house, a water droplet, and a ramp
3)turn the dial to highlight the water droplet
4)push down on the dial once
5)your screen will have a yellow highlight
6) turn the dial to the left or right, adding or reducing humidity from 1-5
Thats it!

Do you have the provider/clinical manual for your machine? If not you can find it here.
http://www.apneuvereniging.nl/forum/pdf ... manual.pdf
Sounds like you have the ClimateLine heated hose if you are only seeing a temperature setting available. This usually means that the ClimateLine is set to automatic.
You can read about it in the above manual but you may need to make a change in the clinical setup menu from automatic to patient or manual so that you can set the temperature and humidity levels independently.

Re: Changing the Humidity on ResMed9 Autoset?
The default setting for the ClimateLine when it gets attached is for "Automatic" which means that the machine will try to maintain 80% delivered humidity no matter what the temperature and that's why only temperature is available to be changed.oak wrote:Really Pugsy? That's a strange setup.
That's the way my S9 was set up. I had to change it off of "automatic" to be able to have both temperature and humidity choices separately. I am pretty sure that's the way all the S9 works when using the ClimateLine hose.
If someone sees a temperature setting...that tells me that they are using the ClimateLine because temperature isn't offered with the regular non heated hose.
If they can't seem to find a way to change anything but temperature then that tells me that the machine is in automatic mode for humidity delivery with the ClimateLine.
It's rare that a DME will change the default settings in the clinical setup ahead of time so that the patient has control over both temp and humidity...but not impossible.
It sounds like your machine was setup different from the factory defaults.

Exactly right Pugsy. I had the rare RT who set mine up on auto because that is what he's instructed to do, but he also took the time to make sure I knew how to change it over to manual so I could adjust both humidity and temp. I haven't had any luck so far with auto but maybe this winter.

If it is midnight & Pugsy tells you it is light outside, just accept it as fact until you have VERY SOLID PROOF that it is NOT light outside.Pugsy wrote:I had to change it off of "automatic" to be able to have both temperature and humidity choices separately.oak wrote:Really Pugsy? If you are using the ClimateLine hose in "Auto" mode, you can ONLY change the temperature. The "Auto" part of "Auto" is that it automatically maintains the humidity at 80% so there is not a setting for Humidity in the Auto mode.
I have a dislike for heat, so in the summertime, I keep my ClimateLine on Auto but reduce the temperature setting to it's lowest of 60 degrees.
Even 60 degrees seems a little too hot for me, so a couple of days ago I switched to "Manual" mode & turned both the humidity & temperature to off to use my Humidifier in passover mode only. Night bedroom temperature ranges from 69 to 71 degrees. With the Humidifier in passover mode only, I could increase the night bedroom temperature to 71 to 73 degrees.
BIG MISTAKE !
After 2 nights, I went back to "Auto" with a temperature of 60.
Yes, I could use the Manual Mode - but I find that the Auto Mode does a much better job of stabilizing the Humidity than I could by "guessing" which Manual Humidity setting to use.
