Ratcheted up my time with the mask on, actually sleeping, from 5 to 6 hours last night. AHI 2.4, mostly due to CA's while awake for the first 15 minutes or so, no CA's while asleep! No large leaks but leak rate 67 (Wisp mask).
Really want to try Resmed Swift Nano mask. Side straps from Wisp really bother my ears where they press against them. Read Pugsy's review of the Nano and it was very helpful.
Onward and upward.
Six hours of sleep therapy!

Good job Ellen.
What is your insurance situation on trying the Nano using your DME or were you thinking of ordering from cpap.com?

Re: Six hours of sleep therapy!
Mabzmuzik: I see you're new here. I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea in April (AHI score 108 events/hr!) and got my machine May 6. It took me until about a month ago to be able to keep my mask on longer than one hour at night. I was so averse to this machine, I was scared to death of the blast of wind that belted me in the face (my pressures are set at 15 and 24), was annoyed by the smell of the plastic and the headgear bothered me. Plus I was claustrophobic.mabzmuzik wrote:Nice! I can't wait to get to sleep 6 to 8 hours.
I went through two full face masks and now use a nasal mask and a strip of first aid adhesive tape on my lips since I couldn't get used to a chinstrap. I cried, I worried, I thought I would never be able to use this machine, but the kind people here kept encouraging me and offering advice, and gradually I was able to go from one hour to four, then to five, then last night to six hours of shuteye. I still have leaks and my AHI shows Clear Apneas when I am awake (it's taken me a long time to be able to fall asleep in under an hour), but I'm light years ahead of where I was when I started.
If I can do this, anyone can.

Re: Six hours of sleep therapy!
I haven't had a full 28 days of compliance yet so I don't want to alert the DME to pull my SD card just yet (I guess they have forgotten about me). I'm not eligible for a new mask from Lincare until after Nov. 6, so I can tough it out or just buy it on CPAP.com. Going to see how my finances go the rest of this month.Pugsy wrote:Good job Ellen.

Thank you everyone for your support and compassion. I really was afraid I wouldn't get this far.
