Funny. The Alien brain visits me pretty often.

That brain critter long ago took up permanent residence in my bedroom. I had him tamed for a while. But with the new semester, he's back in full glory.

One time, I started playing talk show podcasts in old Kindle in order to get to sleep. The MP3 function was so rudimentary that there was no way of shutting off anything after awhile.
Anyway, I was sleeping great until a stupid podcast started playing that had bells in the introduction. For some reason, whatever stage of sleep I was in reacted to those bleeping bells and caused me to wake up. Needless to say, those podcasts with the bells were deleted from my Kindle, never to appear again.

I do better with the tv on as I will just think about stuff if it is quiet. So, one night I fell asleep watching a tv program, and sometime after, wrestling came on. Those announcers are loud. I used the remote to turn it off, but the remote didn't work. So, I got out of bed and pushed the button on the front. Still didn't turn off. I unplugged it, and the tv was still playing wrestling. I finally woke up and changed the channel.49er wrote:One time, I started playing talk show podcasts in old Kindle in order to get to sleep. Most things don't bother me, but I do have some strange dreams. I do wake up to a few particular people because I find them especially annoying. One person would say "um" an awful lot. Another person talks very slowly and that will wake me up. Strangely, I also wake up to nice singing. The celebration for Martin Luther King JR had 3 girls singing the national anthem. I woke up for that, and it was beautiful. Sometimes, morning programs will have somebody that sings, and I have awoken to some of those. Most nights, I'm not aware of any of it.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
Re: Just a little funny for the Insomniacs Like Me!
I have always wished that I had a way of watching tv while falling asleep in bed since I do this without warning when I view the TV out in the living room. Then again, after reading your account of programs and due to my sensitivity to particular sounds, that might not be a good idea.zoocrewphoto wrote:I do better with the tv on as I will just think about stuff if it is quiet. Glad it works for you.

Most TV sets have a sleep function that you can set so it turns its self off after a preset time

Thanks Big fella. You can tell my tv is quite old. LOL.Big fella wrote:Most TV sets have a sleep function that you can set so it turns its self off after a preset time
Anyway, it would be hard for me to watch it without my glasses and with a full face mask. Better stick to talk show podcasts minus the one that has the bells in the introduction.
