Need equipment - no insurance

Post by SleeplessinFL » Sun Aug 25, 2013 8:12 pm

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this forum and may type funny letters because I am sooooooo tired...lol. I have no insurance but was able to find a machine at Goodwill...yes, Goodwill for $5.99. I need to get the mask and tubing but am finding it to be out of my cost range. Does anyone have any information on ways to get assistance with this cost?

Thank you

Try Secondwind.com... they''ve got all kinds at very reduced prices. Others will have more ideas. What kind of machine did you get - does it work? Did you have a sleep study, or test at home? How will you know what to set the machine pressures to - is it an auto type?

I just checked second wind and their masks are pretty pricey I think. poster may even get a better deal by going to a local Durable Medical Equipment supplier........at least could try them on there and get fitted, since poster is so new...

also cpap.com has some under $50 and has that free shipping with code FALLING..just a thought https://www.cpap.com/cpap-masks-all.php?priceRange=60

Thank you for the reply. I checked and it looks like they have the mask I need for $110 which is doable...if it comes with a cushion. I'm calling them tomorrow. To answer your questions, I found a Resmed Escape. I was shocked that it worked. Came with tubing and headgear, etc...but in Large and I where small. I am trying to use it but I feel more tired than before so I don't think it is doing me much good. I had a sleep study 2 years ago when I had health insurance and knew my settings (19 - although I am starting lower since that feels pretty high and I need to get used to it). Thanks to Google I was able to find the clinical settings and set the machine. My AHI is 56.3 which I understand is pretty high. Other than this I don't know alot about it except that I am tired of being tired and need a resolution. I pray this works and by reading some of the other posts it appears to be a good treatment.

Which mask is it that you were wanting to get and in what size?

You might also try ebay. They sell mask parts. You can put a mask together pretty cheap.

I am looking at the Mirage Quattro full face mask in Small. For the mask, clip and cushion it is $230... ugh. I am going to check ebay (thanks for that suggestion). Any other ideas?

Amazon has the parts you have to put them all together yourself but i think is way cheaper than $230 http://www.amazon.com/ResMed-Mirage-Qua ... _sbs_hpc_4 It would be $146 there.

Also search Craig's List in your area ... I quite often see masks, hoses, filters, even machines!

Ouch, that one is pricey indeed.

I was hoping that I might have what you want in my donations stash that people send me (their failed experiments) but I am pretty sure I don't have the Quattro in any size. I will look tomorrow though to make sure.
I don't think I have much of anything in a small full face mask size but I will check it out tomorrow and let you know...so check back here or register here at the forum and send me a private message because I have been known to have short term memory loss.

I still have my small Quattro, used fewer than 10 times.
I'll look for it; it's in here somewhere . . .
(edit--found--DH says I need to ask $25, and we can take PayPal.)
