OT - Alternative use for that worthless ChinStrap
OK, so that chinstrap seems totally worthless.
Don't throw it away yet.
See No. 8 on this video

And, since your chinstrap is not working & you fall asleep during the day, check out No. 1 on the above video.

Re: OT - Alternative use for that worthless ChinStrap
I don't think that's very far off topic.
Chinstraps are in fact, problematic to use, to say the least. Most people think of them like training wheels on a bicycle. They use it for a few nights and then try without it.
If you are trying to use a chinstrap, my advice is to put it on first, just enough to get it into position. Then without undoing the velcro, take it off and increase tension by an inch to inch and a half. That should make it tight enough to keep in it place and not give you a headache.
Funny how #8 and #1 relate on the video. I wonder if that was intentional.

My Respironics Deluxe Chinstrap 3" White also works perfectly for me.avi123 wrote:My Chinstrap is very valuable to my OSA treatment!
I just don't like to have all of that excess (especially 3" wide) on the sides of my head & face.
My link to the video was for those who just canNOT make their chinstrap work.

Can you get the pressure cooker away from us athletes?

In a word & in all due respect - - - NO !avi123 wrote:Question,

I joined this forum on 6-18-12 (14 months ago) & picked my User Name then with the intention of using my current avatar.
Because of procrastination on my part, I did not set up that avatar immediately.
Then, because of the Boston bombing, I delayed doing so even longer in respect for the victims.
But, I will not let terrorists nor political correctness run my life.
Besides, that particular pressure cooker is circa 1940s & would be difficult to obtain for any purpose (legal or not).
So, get used to it.
It ain't going anywhere.
Besides, it is appropriate.
What does one cook in a pressure cooker? Stew !
And since my name is Stuart (Stu for short) & I am under pressure for many hours each day & I had a 73 year old pressure cooker on hand, what else would I choose?

My mother canned beef in a pressure cooker like that. We had the best school lunches, even in high school.
My specialty was a paté made by running canned roast beef, onions, and pickles through the meat grinder,
then mixing in mayo and mustard.

I never got into really using a pressure cooker because it's just another bulky thing to fit into the dishwasher. However, I did love the OP's video of ridiculous inventions. Did you notice how earnest all the models or creators looked? Quite a feat to keep a straight face around those gadgets.chunkyfrog wrote:My mother canned beef in a pressure cooker like that. I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Re: OT - Alternative use for that worthless ChinStrap
My aunt used one all the time, but the time the top blew off when she was making spaghetti sauce traumatized the whole family and was the time my mother decided she didn't need one. I know they are safer now but I prefer a slow cooker.chunkyfrog wrote:My mother canned beef in a pressure cooker like that. We had the best school lunches, even in high school.

Re: OT - Alternative use for that worthless ChinStrap
When I first saw the Stu's avatar I really didn't make out what it was. I could see the mask, but the backdrop remained a mystery.
Now that I've read the explanation, I see what it is and also understand why it makes perfect sense.
I agree with not letting terrorists run our lives. Would we stop renting Ryder rental trucks because of Timothy McVeigh? And that would be just one of many examples.
On the subject of pressure cookers however, they do make very good food. I'm not a chef so I don't understand how, but homemade chicken noodle soup comes out great.

Homemade chicken noodle soup in a crock pot is wonderful.

Re: OT - Alternative use for that worthless ChinStrap
To bring it back on topic, maybe wrapping the chin strap around a pressure cooker will relieve my anxieties about spaghetti sauce going through the ceiling!

Re: OT - Alternative use for that worthless ChinStrap
My mother's pressure cooker was only used for cooking tough (cheap) meat and canning;
especially meats and low-acid vegetables, where the high heat is necessary for safety.
My father-in-law had other uses for his. As a homeless teen in Germany in WWII,
he made vodka after the coal mine he was kidnapped to work in was closed (bombed?)
He survived until the Allies liberated him by selling craft Ukrainian vodka to Nazi soldiers.
Later he sold his magic happy juice to Allied soldiers.
