I'm back with my new mask and stuff!
Hi All,
I have just returned from a (wonderful) trip to the States to see my family. I had a relaxing week, and slept a lot - with machine, of course. AND, I got my big order from CPAP.com, including a Comfort Lite 2 mask and a new humidifier and all sorts of accessories for my new hobby. I had no problem with bringing the CPAP on the plane, the guy at the x-ray inspection station seemed familiar with the apparatus and didn't question it. I was worried about this as security is so tight. I didn't try to use the machine on the plane as I was in bargain class and also figured that the dozing I do while sitting up in the seat won't be too significant. Anyway, that's about the trip. NOW, about the mask...
I just finished unpacking the new CL2 and trying it on. I think I am ready for the night. I am going to try the size Large simple cushion and if that leaks I will then try the size Medium pillows. The large seemed too big for me, on first fitting, though I do use the Large for the Breeze. I put the straps on the lower and middle setting, and set the lower strap a bit tighter than the middle one. Any other tips? I am worried about three things: The forehead piece feels sweaty, I am not used to something on my forehead; the simple cushion may leak; and the apparatus might slip down off my forehead toward my nose. Those were the issues I felt while trying it on just now. ANY SUGGESTIONS Mostly, I am writing to give myself a confidence boost as I have not tried any new mask since settling down with my Breeze 2 months ago, and I am nervous... taking a new mask to bed, ya know...
OK, off I go,
Thanks for listening,
AII

Welcome back, AII.
Taking a new mask to bed - that can be an issue. I hope you enjoy the new one - it might take more than one night, but it might be worth it.

I don't like the feel of the forehead piece at all, so I cut a piece of very soft cotton and put on the forehead piece before I put the mask on. That way I have soft cotton touching my forehead, not the uncomfortable/scratchy fabric they have sown to the mask.
Even if the large pillows seem to large, try them on, use the little nose clip to get a better fit. The larger pillow will keep them out of the nostril so it may be more comfortable for you.
Good luck.

report after one night on CL2
OK, first night a fair success! I used the simple cushion, which is a lot like the Breeze DreamSeal. The headgear was comfortable, at night when it was cooler out the forehead pad did not bother me. I did, however, feel that the hose and its trappings coming out of the top was heavier than the Breeze. My head felt heavier. I had a bit of leakage but played with the straps and I think that worked. One thing, though. I have a straight CPAP with a low setting of 5, and with the simple cushion I had the sensation of not enough air when I was falling asleep. With the Breeze I always feel rich with air flow. Has anyone else noted this? Tonight I will try the nasal pillows with the CL2. And will check my AI, too. Stay tuned.
Regarding the Swift - love the feel on my nose by didn't manage to side/stomach sleep well with it... Breeze was better for me. And now... ?maybe the CL2!
Regards,
AII

Remember, switching masks might require an adjustment in pressure. You might try bumping your cpap up to 6 to see if you feel better. That's the great thing about software, it allows you to monitor how you are doing - especially if you tweak your pressure.

Thanks, I was thinking that I might need to bump it up a bit. Just that I've never done that so was hesitant to. Then again, I've never tried a new mask, either. Can someone with a PB 240 S tell me how to change the pressure? Or, of course, I could read the book
Last night I slept well with the CL2 nasal pillows. Found them very comfortable. The large was too big, folded into my nostrils, but the medium was "just right". (In the Breeze I use the large...). Now, I have only tried one night each, but my AI for each night was in my usual range. I go from 1.5 - 3, AI only, and even the night that I felt "low on air", the number was ok. Still, if I try the simple cushion again, I will increase my pressure a bit for comfort sake. SO, I am happy! Also, an area on my nostrils that was being irritated by my Breeze seems to be OK with the similar but apparently slightly different pillows of the CL2. That is the best part. Now I feel like I have two masks to go between. I will seen how the AI goes over a few more nights. Overall, a good mask for me, though. And knowing that Karen (padacheek) is working on a cover for the forehead pad makes me happy as the hot summer approaches!
That's the report from here,

Or use the software! Can someone with a PB 240 S tell me how to change the pressure? Or, of course, I could read the book
Once Sl3 has finished reading the details and sprung the synthesis screen on you, you can go back to machine's control screen, choose the setup option, and change the pressure. ...
Well, that's what you can do with 420E
PM me if you need more info.
That's great news about padacheek's forehead pad initiative!
