I have a Phillips Respironics Remstar Auto A-Flex. I'm a newbie, been using it for about 9 days.
I am managing to sleep all night (the info display on the hours I sleep says around 7 hours a night) , but have hit some bumps with dry mouth on occasion, and
puffs of air escaping my lips. I'm using a WISP mask.
I called the the provider and the rep said before I assume the dry mouth was from opening my mouth try upping the humidifier. Last night I was
having some problems, so I started experimenting with what settings I could control.
I normally sleep with a wedge system on my bed, so my head is pretty propped up, and I always sleep all night long on my back, I move very little. So last night
I put the mask on before it was time to sleep, and I wanted to see if I still had dry mouth while I was sure my mouth was closed, and I did, so I upped the
humidifier. Then I continued my experiment to see if I could eliminate the "puffs" by lying flat with just a normal pillow...that was a no go, as I had the puffs
even more. So I decided to see what else I could adjust on the machine and went to the machine and adjusted the CFlex mode from 3 to 1. And then I slept
for the rest of the night without much issue.
What I'd like to know is exactly what did I adjust...what does the CFlex mode on this machine control. I read the manual, and searched on the forum, but
I must be a little thick, because I can't figure it out. Anyway, I intend to leave things as is for tonight to see if I have the same success. My AHI was 6.1 last night from what the info panel said, and when I was diagnosed it was 19, so I'm pleased with that since I've only been at it for a little over a week.
Any info would be appreciated?
Could someone explain what CFlex is on a Respironics machin?

It's a form of exhale relief.

Comfort setting mainly. It was probably more comfortable for you. Each person responds to it differently because the reduction is based on the force of your own breath and everyone tends to breath a bit differently.
I didn't care at all for CFlex but loved AFlex. Whatever works..that's what we like and it doesn't matter what it is.

Thanks so much for the info. It felt like the pressure was different, but I didn't realize it was the exhale pressure. I really want the Wisp mask to work because it is comfortable and I'm having no problem sleeping with it, and not having a leak issue. Seems like a lot of info to take in, but as you said, "whatever works."Pugsy wrote:It's a form of exhale relief.
