First night on S9

Post by thegrons » Fri Jul 19, 2013 7:51 pm

OK I just got my S9 in and I am ready for my first night!!! I set the CPAP to the usual 8.2 and the auto-set to 7.6 and 8.8. I think I will try the CPAP for the first night and then the auto-set the second night.

A few questions: Sleep Quality; I set this to ON. Is this the best setting that displays the most information? Also I have not seen a menu for determining how much data I wish to record? Does the machine always record the most detailed data or is there a setting for that? I use the Swift FX Nasal Pillows, I set the machine to Nasal and not Ultra; is the the correct setting? Climate control, is the Auto setting or Patient better? Not sure what this does if I am using a standard hose?

Thanks,

John

Turning Sleep Quality to the "On" setting tells the machine to write all the data it collects to the SD card and report what it shows on the LCD screen for patient viewing. There are only 2 choices...Usage and On.

If you are using the Swift FX nasal pillows then you need to make the mask selection "nasal pillow" it's there..you just need to turn the knob to show it. Some people don't realize that they need to turn the knob past the last selection that shows.

If you are using a regular hose...then you won't get the normal choices for Climateline as the machine has to detect it for you to see it.
Instead just set the humidifier to "Patient" and that lets you make any changes to the humidifier setting that you want.
With the regular hose that you are using...set hose to 22 mm.

John,

Good luck, and please post back about how it goes. I was too chicken to use my machine the first night. I just kind of stared at it. I lasted about 2 hours the 2nd night. You shouldn't have too much trouble getting a better start than I did. Once I got started, I felt better right from the first full night using the machine. That sold me on using the machine going forward, and that was 5 years ago already.

Thanks Pugsy and John;

I found two settings on the mask menu they were "nasal" "nasal ultra" "pillows" and "full face" so I set the machine to "pillows" for the Swift FX Pillows. So the sleep quality is the setting that determines how much data I collect? Also will the information on central apnea and obstructive apnea show up on the detailed report of the Rescan?

When I plug my SD card into my computer how do I tell the rescan software to look in the SD slot insead of the CR8 reader? And will it detect the machine and adjust the software or are there other ResScan settings?

Thanks,

John

Correct

Yes, it will but you have to tell ResScan to download "all detailed data"...the default is for summary data only.

This is explained in the video tutorial. Please watch it as it will help you a lot. Pay special attention to the download directions.

Again, explained in the tutorial.

You will be using a new user profile instead of the S8 profile and the software with the correct choice in the download prompt settings will look for the SD card instead of the smart card.
You can't mix S8 data and the S9 data in one user profile. The machine won't know where to look.
