Travel CPAP Machines

Hi,
I am new to this forum but have used a CPAP for several years. My question is, I travel frequently and would like to find a smaller, more lightweight machine. Any suggestions? The Transend looks like a good option until I saw that with the battery and cord, it went from under 1 lb to over 4lbs. Has anyone has experience with this machine compared to the Res-Med ones?

You don't say what kind of machine you use at home. Most of the machines, unless they are very old, are actually very small. It is the humidifiers that make them bulky to carry on trips. Then there is the mask and hose and I always take a spare mask and hose in case of breakage. For these reasons, I have no interest in a travel machine.

If I wanted to travel with something less bulky, I would leave the humidifier, spare mask and spare hose at home.

You have to judge for yourself, maybe by trial and error, whether you will be comfortable without a humidifier. There are a good many people who never use one.

I have heard people state the Intellepap Auto is considerably smaller than most machines. They report it is also light weight, very quiet, and less expensive than most. You might check it out.

I'm think about getting a more up to date machine that is compact enough to take with me on trips. The DeVilbiss IntelliPAP Auto looks like it is quite compact and light, so I am going to look into that.

I bought my Intellipap Auto especially for travel. Very nice machine;
Functionally, it is hard to tell it from my S9 Autoset with the room lights out.
The fact that it will run directly off 12 volts (in addition to AC) is also very awesome.

I purchased an Intellipap Auto for my travel machine. It is not as sophisticated as the Resmed S9 however I sleep as well with it. I did need to adjust the sensitivity to hypopneas because it was reporting an AHI if 9 and running at the top of the pressure range most of the night.

I must admit that I am a bit amused by this topic. It seems to me that just about all of the current
generation of xPAPs are small and light enough to be easily transported. The Transcend (CPAP only)
is the only one with a bit of a size/weight advantage.

Having a travel machine in order to avoid damaging or losing one's primary machine makes sense
to me. Especially if the travel machine is a less expensive, less featured machine.

I also consider my travel machine my disaster back-up.
If all the power available is battery, I still have a chance for decent sleep.
