Sleepyhead question

Post by lilasmom » Wed Jul 03, 2013 4:10 am

In the Daily event area it has the times that the event occurred, what does the number next to the time in () mean? Thanks.

Wow! I had one last 69 seconds long...is this uncommon? It seems awfully long to stop breathing. Thanks!

First thanks for asking this question: I just learned something new about sleepyhead.

Sounds long what kind of event was it?

I was wondering the exact same thing. Thanks for asking. I had one that said 104 and because it was out of the norm, I didn't know if it was an area for concern.

It was a Hypopnea event. Looking back on my event history, my longest one is 88.

You need to look at the wave form for the event. For me, there is usually some airflow, which means the event is less scary than the duration suggests.

Yes that is shallow breathing not a total stoppage of breathing.

I have them all the time...in fact that is just about all I get now.

You might want to look my threads up.

Rich

PS: Hypopnea
An hypopnea is indicated if there is approximately 40% reduction in airflow for a duration of between 10 and 60 seconds, compared to the average airflow over an extended period of several minutes. Following a reduction in airflow, the therapy device must see two recovery breaths in order to label the event as a potential hypopnea. (Respironics detection is 40% reduction and ResMed detection is 50% reduction)
