I am new to CPAP, this past Friday. After waiting about 2 and 1/2 months to get into the sleep doctor after my sleep study, I have finally gotten a machine and mask. My question is, my wife told me this morning, that she can still hear me snoring (basically, it was still waking her up at times even with the CPAP). I did not have any problems sleeping or tolerating the mask etc.
My understanding is that the CPAP will help with or even eliminate snoring, but am not sure. Is it unusual to still snore when on CPAP?; Should I check to see if the pressure needs to be raised?; the machine has an altitude adjustment menu that I can access, if I raise that, will it provide increased pressure that I can fiddle with on my own, without having to go back to the DME?
My machine is a Resmend S8 escape and mask is the Resmed Activa. My setting is 5 (low compared to what I have been reading the past few weeks on this site).
Thanks for any responses.

New to CPAP, question re still snoring
Usually a CPAP eliminates (or at least significantly reduce) snoring.
Since your pressure is very low and your snoring is still waking up your wife, I think too that the pressure needs to be raised.
I am not familiar with your CPAP, but I wouldn't fiddle with the altitude compensation. The best way to find the right pressure would be to use an APAP (at least) for a while.

Todd,
I agree with reval, that pressure is too low to stop much of anything.

I have read about those quite a bit here, how many hoops need to be jumped to get the insurance to cover? How willing in general are doctors to make the prescription? Should I just come out and ask now or play the game with both Dr and Insurance to build up the case for a APAP (my machine is rental right now). Also, my machine is Resmed not Resmend as previously stated and I also have the heated humidifier).
Even if you have a rental machine, somebody (your doctor) had to write out a prescription for it.......where is it? If the DME kept it, get it back from them and see what it says. ALWAYS keep your prescription.
The issues with your insurance and what kind of machine you get can vary greatly, but if you're willing to do some arm twisting or pay out-of-pocket, you can get just about any machine you want.
