Hi there,
I'm new to this board. I was just diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, and after reading ten gazillion posts I decided that the Remstar CFlex Auto CPAP was the best machine out there and I should gun for that.
Just went for my triation testing (or whatever it's called) on Saturday. Thing is, while I was there I liked the nasal pillow mask far more than the standard mask.
Then I remembered hearing that the CFlex doesn't like the small tubes of the Nasal Pillows (can't use auto mode)... but I can't remember the forum or post or whatever that I saw on there. Is this true?
Remstar CFlex and Nasal Pillows?
I am running the Remstar Auto in auto mode with cflex and using the Swift mazel pillows. I haven't seen any inclonation in the machine to have a problem. I keep the machine on a short leash with a titration level i=of 12, I set 10 to 14 and cflex 1. I found I don't like large swings as they wake me.

I also use the Remstar Auto in auto mode with cflex and the Swift nasal pillows and they have worked fine for over one year. Good machine and good mask. I love being able to download and review my data. I run at a normal highest pressure of around 10 and my sleep study thought I needed 14. Go for the Auto and you will really find out (over the long term) what pressure you need. I feel like the Auto gives me a sleep study every night and will adjust my pressure as I lose weight or things change.

Nope. Although occasionally manufacturers will attempt to suggest their machines work only with their masks. Poppycock! Seems to be a profit-driven myth.Murkk wrote:Then I remembered hearing that the CFlex doesn't like the small tubes of the Nasal Pillows (can't use auto mode)... but I can't remember the forum or post or whatever that I saw on there. Actually, I found the link. It was under "House Comments" from CPAP.com.
REMstar Auto C-Flex CPAP
"You should be aware that some interface devices with narrow tubes, such as the Nasal Aire or the Breeze with Nasal Pillows, may have an impact on the ability of this and other auto CPAPs to accurately respond to airflow restrictions during use. "
Any comments? I might as well not get a REMSTAR if I enjoy using the nasal pillows more than a standard mask.
