Why do I Always wake up?

Post by sleepinow » Thu Jun 27, 2013 4:58 am

This has been bothering me for such a long time now. Can anyone tell me why the hell do I keep waking up at around 4-5 am every single damn day? Sorry for some of the terms that I use, but seriously this is really bothering me.

This has been happening before ASV treatment during ASV treatment and it is literally starting to drive me crazy

Can anyone here possisbly determine what the hell is going on with me that it happens every single damn time I go to sleep

Once again I am sorry for the use of my words but this is worse than retarded

Hi Sleepinnow,

As one who has similar type problems, I definitely understand your extreme frustration. Anyway, how many hours do you sleep initially and is your treatment optimal?

Initially I sleep about four or five hours depending on what time I wake up.

My treatment is not optimal since i never have been titrated for my asv. My ahi is below one or below 1.6 at most times

I bet you do not practice good sleep hygiene. (Blame the victim.)

I bet I do

I run 3 miles 5 days a week
Lift weights 4 days a week
Dont eat gluten dairy and other unhealthy stuff
I go to bed at the same time almost most of the time 12:00 midnight. Other times it is 12:15, 12:30 and very very rarely does it ever get passed 1:00 am

No smoking drinking
No medications other then when i am sick

I fall asleep quickly and yet I wake up at 4 or 5 am every morning

You are likely overtraining. It's very common among men. (Yes women, I know some of you do also.)

Do you take any NSAIDs? They interfere with sleep in many people. If you are taking an 81 mg aspirin daily, it should be taken first thing in the morning.

Have you eliminated all caffeine intake? Including chocolate?

Like I said I do not take any medications unless I am sick so no aspirin for many many months

I seriously doubt that I overtrain. Actually I now lift weights 3 times a week. I am not built ripped. Dont feel sore. Am of good weight. And am not tired where tiredness is a big symptom of overtraining.

I have not had any caffiene in the longest time. No soda tea chocolate coffee and whatever other caffiene substances are available

Sleepinnow, how do you feel after waking up? Do you have any nasal congestion issues? Are you ever able to get back to sleep?

Sorry for asking more questions. I am just trying to understand your situation.

As an FYI, some people have had improved sleep using magnesium glycinate. I might give it a shot.

I do not know how I feel because I am solely concetrated on going back to sleep. My nose is rarely ever congested
And yes I usually always fall back asleep
If you are asking how I feel after I wake up after my sleep in its entirety then I feel pretty okay

The reason why this waking up early as hell bothers me is because my parents who live upstairs wake up for work sometime later and it disrups me falling back asleep because of their footsteps

You might want to make a note of that. The reason for my suggestion was before I was diagnosed with apnea, one time I slept 5 hours that was the best quality sleep I had experienced in months. Not saying that is true in your situation but I am curious.
Anyway, if you still feel you haven't received enough sleep and have time for more, I would try doing something you find relaxing such as listening to an audiobook, etc.

And if you haven't had a medical checkup to make sure nothing is wrong, I would also do that.

5 hours is definetely not enough because later in the day I get very very tired vs if I went back to sleep after my wakeup.

Sorry I forgot to ask the most important question which is what does your sleep doctor say? Have you been to one?

sleepinow:

Not meaning to be a smartxxx but just maybe, not spazzing out over this and being thankful for... the good sleep you do get would go a long way.. Chill, the glass is not half empty -- It's still half full!

As I said, not trying to be cute or insensitive. I know our problems-situations are all important to us, but look around, it seems you have good health and a lot to be thankful for.------- Just saying if you don't let this be such a big deal then just maybe it wouldn't be.

I can empathize with you, as I'm victim to the same gremlins as you, but they drop by my place before yours--2:30 a.m. just like clockwork. I try to smile and be thankful for the good sleep I've had and go back to sleep. Not always successful but still.

Maybe one night I will wake up, pre- gremlin attack and be able to catch them suckers and put an end to this!!! Ahhhh never had any luck trying to catch santa claus but Who Knows??

Persevere and conquer Steve

It is called your Kardashian rhythm (Ok not quite ....)

Your body has its own ups and downs. That is why some people are morning people and some are night owls.

4 am is the traditional time when people "die in their sleep" It is for most people the time of the deepest sleep, and REM sleep. If yours comes earlier your body may assume it is morning and goes into its morning cycle.

Well there you go!

You have problems sleeping because you are a grown man, have no job, living a life of leisure and working out at the gym, and still living with your dear productive parents both of whom work all day.

Ever think about getting a job, renting a place and getting out of your parents hair and off their dole?
