High Respiratory Rate noted by SleepyHead

Post by Pekoepup » Mon Jun 17, 2013 10:36 am

I have had my S9 Autoset for only 4 days now and i just started using Sleepyhead. I love looking at data and graphs so it is interesting to see how much more information is available compared to my old M Series and Encore 1.0. I have noted that my respiratory rate is very high while i sleep and is sustained throughout most of the night. My average RR is running between 20-25 bpm with episodes as high as 39.

I have multiple episodes where my RR is in the high 30's with my tidal volumes and minute ventilation dropping significantly. I wonder if these occur when I am in REM sleep and represents events of rapid, shallow breathing.

I am wondering if anyone else has high respiratory rates while sleeping? I am trying to decide if I should notify my Sleep doc and see what he thinks. I do tend to be a tachypneic person while awake but I always assumed my RR dropped while sleeping. I do frequently wake up and find I am breathing very fast.
