CA Component of AHI

Post by Grego » Wed Jun 12, 2013 1:09 am

Hello,

Over the past month, the CA component of my AHI has increased to where it now averages over 2.0. My overall AHI is up to 4.9 with the largest component the CA. I would welcome others input on the CA number, as I think it may be related to the fact that I wake up nearly every night about 2:00AM. Generally asleep by 9:30 PM. I am pressing my doctor for another sleep study to determine if an ASV would help, but so far she has not been very helpful (time for another doctor perhaps).

I get along well with my CPAP setup and wear it all night.

Appreciate your input. Thanks.

An ave. AHI of 4.9 is great!!

There is a possibliliity that your machine is counting the CA's that normally occur while transitioning from wake state to stage - 1 of sleep. These are called Sleep Onset Central's and are quite normal.

Cpap does not treat central apneas So yeah an ASV would do the trick.

I used to be diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea by my docor. I knew there was something up with my Cpap because I would notice myself not breathing. I made the decision of buying an ASV on my own and after that I felt much better. Mainly because of my central apneas

Edit: Actually Stage0 might be right since it is your first month
