Stinky little CPAP machine

Post by Rebecca in Ann Arbor » Tue Jun 11, 2013 3:13 pm

Has anyone else had problems with the Probasics "Silent Traveller" ZZZ-Pap machine?
The unit I purchased in December has a persistent, nasty vinyl smell that I don't want to breathe at night. I've run it for days at a time and the smell doesn't completely go away.
This a shame, because the last machine I owned from this mfr. was just fine.

Try spraying Febreeze while the machine is running.

I'm not sure I'd want Febreeze in the lungs!

Call the machine manufacturer and see if they have any suggestions.

You could try an inline bacteria filter. Google for it. It is an extra filter you can add to the hose.

It helped on my previous machine. The water chamber had nooks and crannies that were hard to keep clean and would sometimes develop an odor if I hadn't been doing a good job at cleaning it.

Just a few things to try:

If you have the water tank, clean it very well. Be sure there is always water in it when running. Try running without the humidifier, and try swapping hose and mask. Change filters.
