New Quattro Air FFM now available at cpap.com

Post by Pugsy » Fri Jun 07, 2013 8:15 am

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed ... -mask.html

Thought I would start a new thread about ResMed's new Full Face Mask called the Quattro Air.
Our forum host just started selling it today. $176

I know some people were wanting to try it.
If someone wants to use their insurance to pay for it and thus have their DME supply it....gotta check with them to see if they have it or are willing to get it for you.

Right now Return Insurance for this mask purchased through cpap.com is $30.80.
It's always higher for full face masks because full face masks generally cost more to start with and fitting issues are sometimes more frequent...so higher rate of returns equals higher insurance cost.

So if you are tempted and are going to be doing it out of pocket...do it now while return insurance is lower...with time I doubt the return insurance will get any cheaper.

I won't be trying this mask myself. It doesn't interest me at all...so don't wait on my thoughts on it...there won't be any.
Just thought I would start a thread and people could talk about it and even post reviews on it if they have tried it.

If I were using a full face mask, I'd be excited to try this one. I have a Mirage Quattro that I keep for emergencies, and this mask seems to be a cross between the Mirage Quattro cushion and the Mirage FX (nasal mask) headgear, another mask I have which I really like.

Thanks Pugsy for being so thoughtful. I will wait for the reviews before I even consider giving it a shot.

After I initially posted this message, I watched the promotional video on cpap.com. For what it is worth, Resmed is claiming that because of the mask technology, there will be less pressure on the nose. Hopefully, that turns out to be the case.

well, I just placed my order for one...... expected delivery is Tuesday. With a $4000 per year deductible, it would have been out of pocket for me anyway.

I have my annual appointment with my sleep doc on Tuesday afternoon . So this is great timing, I'll use it Tuesday night with no concerns about a new mask disrupting data at my dr appt.

I love my Quattro, but I excited the thoughts of this one having less bulk!

I called the DME and left message to find out about it. I'm a few weeks from being eligible for a new mask and would love to hear thoughts on how it is going and if people are liking it.

Avi
That is the Quattro that you pictured... the Air is totally different. Take a look at cpap.com, they have pictures and description for it.
Started cpap in 2010.. still at it with great results.

We just got back from the Sleep Conference in Baltimore, it was great.
ResMed was unveiling the Quattro Air at this show for the US market. It seems very light weight and cleaner lines. It is noticeably lighter than the Mirage Quattro. The one thing I was not so sure about is the attachment points. They took the design of the Mirage FX where there is no clip involved, just the fold of the strap slides over the attachment points. I prefer the clips myself, but some may not.

It seems to be a nice mask, I cannot tell you anything about the fit because I did not have a chance to wear it.

I am sure it will be just the mask for some people.

I received an update from cpap.com & my mask is now scheduled to arrive on Wednesday.

Karen at pad-a-cheek believes that her current quattro mask liner will work on the AIR, but the forehead pad on the liner might cover the upper straps a little.

I've looked at all of the photos and videos.... It sure looks to me like they eliminated the anti-asphxysiation valve.

Did I miss something?

It looks to me like the valve is in the elbow from the ResMed site photo. My Hans Rudolph has it in the elbow.

I checked with my DME about the AIR as Mike is due for new mask this week. She said they probably wouldn't "special order" it because it's too expensive as were all Resmed products and they're trying and phase all their products out and just use Respironics and other mfrs.. I left a message for the manager to call me on Monday and I will also be checking with Medicare on their rules for a contracted supplier. I'm getting ready for battle if necessary!

It is very similar to the Fisher & Paykel HC 431 that I use and I'm reluctant to pay out of pocket for this item because it's so similar and I had a bad experience with the Mirage Quattro.

I may be tempted to try it when I get my flexible spending for next year though after there have been some reviews.

My Quattro Air was just delivered. I'm wearing it right now and I have to admit that out of the five different masks that I own, this one is by far the most comfortable.

When I say by far, I mean not even close. This is a very comfortable mask from the start. I will have to see how it performs in the long run but what a great start!

The bottom straps actually run under your ears which is more comfortable for me.

Here is a pic of my ugly mug wearing the mask. I have my reading glasses on so I can see what I'm doing:

I'll let you guys know if it leaks or not after wearing it all night.

Dori,

I always admire your tireless efforts dealing with Mike's OSA. In this case however I would tell you to save yourself the anger and frustration. Medicare does not dictate what manufacture's a supplier must provide products from. With the Round 2 competitive bid reimbursments going live July 1st many suppliers are looking to cut costs, many are dropping Resmed masks from their offerings.

EDIT: On a side note we recieved a couple of demo Quattro Air's on Monday, they are out on a couple of our long term FFM patients right now for evaluation. I will attempt to update with a review next week.
