what type mask please?

Post by lukeschuler » Thu Jun 06, 2013 8:04 pm

I just got hooked up yesterday. At the sleep clinic, I asked for the nasal pillow. Now they have on the report that the nasal pillow is my best option. I simply cannot keep my mouth shut and wake up with terrible mouth dryness etc. My nose has always been a wreck my whole life. Should I just give into a mask and get relief from nose and mouth both?

If you are a mouth breather, you will need a chin strap with the nasal pillows. (Or you can tape your mouth shut). Another option would be to use a Full Face Mask.

When you are ready to get you the equipment you should request a mask fitting. You might not get it but you should at least try. How could you possibly know what mask will work best for you unless you try a few different styles. Not everyone can wear the same type. A mask should be tried on with the machine blowing and while you are lying down. Good luck.

thanks. the sleep clinic I went to had an idiot who said ¨do you like this, or this?" I did not know anything and he picked a nose pillow operation and now my insurance, provider and the world think that is best for me.

That makes as much sense as going into a shoe store and asking for a pair of shoes and being handed a box and have them tell you here is your shoes. We need to unite and protest.

Try a hybrid or full face.
