life span of a machine
life span of a machine
I've had my ResMed APAP machine for nine years. I was thinking it may be time to replace it since I have met my out of pocket deductible on my health ins. & it would be covered at 100%. How long has yours lasted?
Why do black tires make white smoke?
Re: life span of a machine
I think at 9 years it's time to upgrade. The newer machines are much quieter and supply lots of data to monitor your OSA.
Your current CPAP would make a good back up. 9 years is above average for a machine.

Most types of Durable Medical Equipment are meant to last at least five years, mostly because they are engineered and manufactured to a higher standard than normal consumer goods... I'd say you got your money's worth and should upgrade now.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

One hour to 10, 000 hours, they are machines, it the luck of the draw. Everyone should have a backup unit, I have 3 machines all working. Jim

About 5 years is widely taken as the viable working life for a xPAP system.racefan wrote:I've had my ResMed APAP machine for nine years. I was thinking it may be time to replace it....

I got my ResMed S9 AutoSet when my Respironics brick was 9 1/2 years old.
Reason on prescription for purchase was the technological advances in those 9 1/2 years. Never had a problem getting the new machine.
