Jet engine sound...anybody?
Geesh,
Sometimes my machine makes a high pitched "jet engine" sound, kind of revving up and down. This is a poor description but as close as I can get. When this happens, it is loud enough it wakes me and keeps me awake...anyone else have this issue. Do you know what it could be??
Thank so much,
Dreaming

If it's under 2 years old it's covered by warranty...if not it needs some TLC. Check with your DME first...then call ACBIO CPAP REPAIR.

Re: Jet engine sound...anybody?
Thanks, guys
Question...I already took it back once and asked about it..and it didn't make that sound at the DME's office...they said it was fine. I don't know what to do if I take it again and same response...It is only three months old.
Thanks,
Dreaming

Try recording the sound to play back to them. Make sure your machine isn't touching anything that might vibrate causing the sound.
If your DME won't help, call Respironics. That might light a fire under the DME.

Thanks, Jan
It's weird..it only does this "sometimes". I don't think it did it last night at all, but when it does it is a huge difference in the amount of noise it makes, and the high pitch is really annoying.

Re: Jet engine sound...anybody?
I have a high pitch noise when im laying on side. It comes and goes. Almost like a I hear a ringing in my ear or like maybe what a dog whistle would sound like. I dont make any movement or adjustments and like I said it comes and goes. I dont know where it comes from. I am deaf in one ear and sleeo on my good ear which has perfect hearing. I went from mediun to small because of air leaking noises. Ive tried adjusting all straps and still hearinv noise. Any suggestions???? Sorry I am new here so dont know how this forum works

Please add your equipment to your profile so we know for sure what you are using.
If your husband doesn't hear any noise.
with this statement I assume your husband isn't hearing any machine noise.brnigurl78 wrote:Its not the machine for sure my husband has perfect hearing in both ears
Then maybe some sort of conducted noise. See RobySue's blog about conducted noise.

Thank you. No he hears nothing. Just like the ringing in ear. I made it a little looser and helped a little but still was there. Thanks so much for sharing.

I have one good ear, but the squealing sound comes through my "bad" ear. Tinnitis.

Re: Jet engine sound...anybody?
When my machine started making noises like that, it was just a few days til I called my DME. He came out and said the motor was going out. So my machine is in shop being fixed and I am using one of their loaners.

Lots of possibilities, some mentioned by posters above.
One other thing to consider is filters. My PR-1 used to make a straining, high-pitched sound (kinda) until I removed the white filter and just went with the gray foam filter (and I change this every month or so).
If nothing else works, try using a new gray filter, with no white fine filter, just to test the result.
Good luck finding the high-pitched sound.
