CL2 Direct Seal vs Nasal Pillow?

Post by c10000 » Tue May 02, 2006 2:38 pm

Hi, All,

After reading good reviews of CL2 on this board, I'd like to try it, as well. But I couldn't decide between Direct Seal vs Nasal Pillow.

I looked at the pictures provided by cpap.com. But those pictures were so small that I couldn't see the differences between the two.

Over in this thread:
viewtopic.php?t=8884
there is a big, clear, nice-looking picture of Nasal Pillow.

What are your opinions between the two?

Can someone describe the differences between the two? Or better yet, can someone provide a similar picture of Direct Seal?

Thanks!

Charles

Hi Charles,

The "direct seal" doesn't go into your nostrils. Nasal pillows do go in just a little way. That makes it sound like the direct seal would be more comfortable, BUT.... it would probably be much leakier. Even the "simple cushion" tends to leak, but probably isn't quite as prone to leaking as the "direct seal" would be. Nasal pillows usually

I'd suggest getting the nasal pillows and the "simple cushion" as the second option. The pillows usually seal best for most people.

I've been able to wear the "simple cushion" (the little covers-the-nose thingy) quite well by putting a homemade soft strap over it, around to the back of my head. Quite comfy. But if I didn't do that, the simple cushion leaks.
