ive been using the swift fx for almost 2 years. i also own swift lt which i hate and quattro fx which i also cannot use! my DME is trying to get me to switch from my swift fx to Pilairo™ Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask with Headgear? https://www.cpap.com/productpage/pilair ... 4Aod0Q8ALg
What are your opinions on this?? should i switch knowing my preferences stated above with other masks "i prefer nasal pillows, im using pressure of 10. i was using a pressure of 13 for 2 years but i had another sleep study and they said 10 was good, but they also told me they didnt go any higher then 10 on my sleep test so im not sure why they didnt try me at 13 which im used to, my results of sleep test were 51% sleep during the 8 hours i was in the sleep lab "my 3rd sleep test in 2 years im only 27 and in GREAT physical shape, i snore really loud and always have, it must be genetic.. and little to no rem sleep.....?
if you dont have any experience with the Pilairo Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask, please dont vote.. im trying to get opinions from people with experience with both masks Thank You!!
Swift FX Vs Pilairo Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask?
Re: Swift FX Vs Pilairo Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask?
I tried the Pilairo last summer I guess it was when it first came out.
It's actually a pretty nice mask but the main complaint most people have with it and the same problem I had was the one size fits all head strap. It was too snug on me until I moved it down to just above the ears. I am a small woman and don't have a very large head...and it caused my nose to feel like I ran into someone's fist.
At your pressure of 10 or so it should inflate well. For some people using lower pressures around 6 cm it didn't seem to want to inflate well.
The nasal pillow itself seems to adjust well to about any size nostrils and with the rather elongated holes on the inner cones it would be a boon to someone with a more slotted nostril. It's one size fits all but I use the XSmall and Small nasal pillows on the Swift FX and it worked well. The pillow itself is super comfy even though it has a rather large presence compared to others.
Due to the size of the nasal pillow (compared to the Swift FX) and the head strap being a little too snug, I still preferred the Swift FX. The strap could be altered but I didn't like it any better so not worth doing for me.
I used the Swift FX for probably 2 years or so...just recently replaced by the Tap Pap.
All along I have had this "thing" about having as little stuff on my face as possible. Now I don't have to wear any headgear.
Men with larger heads...that top strap will be a problem unless it is modified and some people liked it well enough to do just that. It wouldn't be hard to do at all. Just snip it and add a little bit of stretchy elastic to the length.

Re: Swift FX Vs Pilairo Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask?
i do have a larger head. the tap pap looks nice but i prefer the tube pointing down, does it make a huge difference if the tube points down or not? i dont use the head clips with my swift fx i just let the tube hang down.
Re: Swift FX Vs Pilairo Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask?
I also wore the Swift FX without securing it to the top strap...just sort of let it lay on the bed around the bed pillow.
The Tap Pap has to be worn with the hose up...it can't be turned to point down because of where the nasal pillows have to go.
I thought originally it might be an issue but I found it it really isn't.
You might like the Pilairo but that one size fits all head strap was a deal breaker for a lot of people.
Of course the usual YMMV sticker applies here...You might fall in love with it.

Re: Swift FX Vs Pilairo Nasal Pillow CPAP Mask?
The Pilairo was my first mask as a newbie 5 wks ago. My pressure is only 6 and it seemed like the area that sits above the lip didn't inflate for me so was a bit irritating. My RT told me to always attach the hose first and then put on the mask and that really did seem to make it just suck right in and fit right to the nostril.
The one strap headgear was a problem for me as that single strap headgear didn't hold the mask stable enough for me to withstand the pull of the hose when I'd lay on my side. The mask/nasal pillows seemed to shift with the pull of the hose and I'd get a really sore nose. My low pressure may have added to this. The headgear strap was a bit small but I put it over a motorcycle helmit for a few hrs and it stretched more than I needed. I don't have a large head tho.
I prefer the FX over the Pilairo ONLY because it's more stable with minimal headgear, but the Pilairo was much easier to get the pillows seated. You may really like the Pilairo.
