Humidity setting

Post by pappy1947 » Sat May 04, 2013 4:47 pm

I've been on Cpap for three months now, doing OK. Working with a S9 series H5i humidifier with climate control. I'm a mouth breather and like as much humidity as possible. My settings are now, Hunidity level 5.5 and tempiture is 78 and still wanting more mositure. The room temp is about 66. Just curious, what are some of your settings. Thanks , Bill Weekley

I have mine set on auto also and 78 degrees. Having it set on auto, the machine maintains 80% humidity.

As you can see, the recurring theme in the responses has been "Auto" to maintain the 80% humidity.

You can then set the temperature to whatever you wish.

Since the temperatures here are already reaching 80+ degrees during the day, I lowered my temperature from 80 to 60.

I still want the 80% humidity, but don't want the extra heat.

My room temp is set at 78 degrees F and my dehumidifier is set on 5. I don't use the climate control. The air coming out the mask is a bit above 80 degrees. I am not a mouth breather but have vasomotor rhinitis which is effected by the air flow and its temp. During the winter my nose got staffed up from it, but not anymore. It's spring time! Lowering the humidity causes dry mouth. So it's a balancing act.

I quit using heated humidity with my therapy a couple of nights after I started.......eight years ago. I use "passover" humidification exclusively, all year round (water in the tank but no heat). My bedroom is typically about 65 degrees or less and I live in a very dry climate area in the Rocky Mountains. To warm the air a bit, I route the hose under the covers and along my body. It works for me.
