Just curious if anybody out there has ever considered becoming a Respiratory Therapist since getting diagnosed with Obstructive Sleep Apnea?
I have been pondering this, seems like it would also help to understand more about OSA . . .
Just thinking

I haven't personally. But if anyone with OSA expressed a desire to become one I would strongly encourage them. They would be more empathetic with their clients as they know exactly what they are going through. With some people it would be a comfort that the person who is telling them "do this, that" knows what its like and has personally been through it.
Just my five cents (no two cents in Australia)

I am looking into it- for now, it sounds interesting, and besides helping others, i think it could help me to personally grow in understanding about OSA . . .

Even thought im not an RT, I am a Registered Sleep Tech and do CPAP setups. I personally use CPAP myself and it definately helps when talking to my patients because little tricks I found along the way are useful when trying to troubleshoot. Theres always a demand for RT's and you can go anywhere. Im getting my biology degree but if I wasnt doing that Id go in the direction of RT.

As an rt I can honestly say I learned very little about OSA in school. It's mostly vents and hospital rt work.

Precisely what too many of us have seen.
I suppose a lot depends on the school you attend.
So where would the good ones be?
