I'm done

Post by dlanbro » Tue Apr 30, 2013 9:19 pm

I appreciate all the help, advice and empathy that I've gotten here. I'm done posting, listening, dealing with my apnea. The therapy is a frakking joke. I can't stop my mask leaks, I'm tired of dealing with it. When I offer something of an opinion on a topic dealing with insurance issues I just get stupid crap back. Like when I said that I'd never forget something Obama said and some moron said that I should site the exact date, time and TV station it was on, then I got called out for being political. Other than a couple of great people I've met here I'm just frustrated and not interested in things right now. I'm defeated. Thank the rest of you for helping me to get there. Bye for now, maybe for good.

I think you are making a mistake leaving, but I fail to understand why you would label a fellow forum member a "moron" for inviting you to back up a statement you claim the President made, by providing the source of your information.

Everyone in the forums who makes political statements which include "quotations" without sources being provided expects to be asked to provide the source. That is a natural component of political discussion and debate, not only here on cpaptalk but on the front porch, the gym, the store or the workplace. That is part of what makes this country great, regardless of one's affiliations or beliefs. If one chooses to say what they believe, you are your own source and that is good enough. But when you choose to quote what you contend someone else said, be it a fellow forum member or the holder of the highest governmental office in the land or anyone in between, don't take offense if asked to provide the source, especially if others in the discussion question its existence or authenticity.

And of course, anyone else reading the thread would have been free to help you out by providing the source, should anyone else ever heard or read the quotation you said you would never forget. Do you recall anyone else being able to provide a source for your quotation? I don't.

Good luck!

Regards, Nate

Hey dianbro,

I am really sorry to hear how discouraged you are. I understand it though. I have been there. It is not an easy thing we do, strapping a foreign object on our face and expecting it to work out. It is far from a perfect solution, but the only effective one we have right now. I hope during your much needed break you will have an oximetry (sp?) test done and find out if your body is being deprived of oxygen and for how long. Perhaps your doc (or a new doc) will find solutions for you that will help keep you healthy and not at risk of your health being harmed.

Please remember that although you may not like some of the member's reactions here, there are those you do appreciate and benefit from.

God bless you,
Dreaming

Discussing politics is like playing with snakes.
Nobody learns anything, and somebody's bound to get hurt.
Please feel free to communicate by PM with the reasonable people here.
This process can be a challenge, and sometimes we can reach a breaking point.
Don't give up on yourself; keep learning and trying.

Take a deep breath, maybe sit out a few hands... then come back. I've liked most of what you've written and got the impression you were on the right track, therapy-wise. Also, don't sweat the leaks so much, your machine will compensate for most of the leaks up to the point where there's a hurricane blasting onto your face. Seriously, ask Pugsy for help. Plus, major leaks can be fixed if you stick with it; that's no reason to give up IMO.

As a side note: I AVOID THE POLITICAL OFFERINGS ON THIS SITE LIKE I'D AVOID THE PLAGUE There's a lot of other sites more appropriate for that sort of stuff (okay, I do occasionally peek at the cute pet pics) Anyway, I find that stuff just raises one's blood pressure to an unhealthy level. Maybe even your leaks

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Please reconsider. Deep down you know that dealing with your sleep apnea is critical.

Remember that being sleep deprived is affecting both your decision-making and frustration threshold.

As for the off-topic stuff, just avoid it. And you can always go to your profile and add certain members
to your foes list. Presto! They will disappear.

Just try to ignore the "morons". Yeah, I know, easier said than done. But, try not to let them get to ya. Compared to some forums I've been part of in the past, this one is pretty mild.

Let's try to focus on your therapy, mask leaks and whatever else relates to your therapy.
Maybe your mask is the wrong size and/or needs tweaking. Maybe it's your bed pillow. They can push full face masks out of alignment and cause serious leaking.

dlanbro,

You will get lots of excellent help, advice and support here, from people of all political beliefs and no political beliefs. The health of all of us is the really important topic here. The rest is just blowing off a little steam. After all, we are all "under a lot of pressure" here.

Remember your own slogan in your sig line: "You find wisdom in the oddest places if you look." I liked that, and I'm sure many others did too.

Hope you stay.

Regards, Nate

Do what you need to do to keep your head in a good space. The thing about negative replies is they seem to carry more weight even though they're usually a small percentage of the posts. But if you really feel it's best for you to not be here, do what you have to do. You could adopt a more measured involvement. Are you aware you can list any member as a foe whose comments you simply don't care to read? Above all, wishing you successful CPAP therapy however you decide to proceed with the group here.
