Excersize, O2 Levels and other things.

Post by insylem » Thu Apr 18, 2013 9:45 am

Hello,
This week, i've been trying to excersize more. I've been doing some bike riding in the morning. I can already tell that it is helping me sleep at night. I'm tired when I go to bed, and seem to stay asleep better. Havnt really seen much effect on my AHI numbers though. I'm sure once I start to loose some weight, my numbers will go down.

Last week, while my sister was getting married, I went to Orlando. I noticed that I seem to get air in my stomach more when I eat too close to bed time. When I do not eat, I do not have air in stomach problems. I'm so glad I got that figured out. No more eating close to bed time for me!

One night I wore an SPo2 meter. It showed that my O2 levels seemed pretty good. Lowest it went was 88 at one point, but for the most part stayed above 90. Heart rate was arround 50, and occasionaly would jump up here and there. I understand this is normal, and probably from R.E.M. sleep.

Today, while I went for my morning bike ride (About 30 minutes) I wore my O2 monitoer. Due to the massive amount of hills. My HR was up and down, as I climbed hills and coasted down them. Stopped for cars ect. I noticed that my SPo2 Levels were in the 80s A Couple places dropped to 81, and for the most part were arround 85-88 or so. I didn't feel bad or anything. I wasn't air hungery. I was breating deeply but not gasping or breathing super heavy. When I got home I felt great! Is it normal for SPo2 levels to drop during excersize? I tried googleing it, but I couldn't find anything that says what they are suposed to be. My heart rate wasnt too high or anything. The Highest it got was 150. According to some online calculator that is okay for my age (Aprox 35) I weigh about 166 lbs and I'm 5'6" tall.

I hear excersizeing can decrease sleep apnea, as well has help prevent diebeties. My parents having diebetes, and me having sleep apnea, have motivated me to excersize more.

Also, my dad has sleep apnea. I think he's had it for several years. He has always snored. But he just got his machine. My mom says it's great, all she hears is the machine. He uses supplimental oxygen as well when he sleeps with his machine. I think his pressure is 16. My dad says he hasnt noticed much diference yet, but my mom says she notices the difference. She says my dad can hold out through the day ALOT better. So yay for my dad!

Well that is all.
Please let me know if you guys know or find anything about O2 Levels during excersize, or cardiovascular workouts. (I do bike rideing)

Hi insylem!

A finger tip pulse oximeter gives valid data on a free finger with unstressed arm, low sweat, near the level of the heart. I can get close to this on the cycle at the gym but I would never even think that readings taken while riding my bicycle would be accurate. Arms and especially hands are rather busy and not at the proper level most of the time when I ride.

Some times looking at the data can show the times most likely to be data compromised if you think about it.

Have a great week and keep rideing and have a lot of fun!!!
