What is my used Bipap worth?

Post by Gregg » Fri Apr 05, 2013 3:10 pm

Well, I haven't been on the forum in a few years. One of the reasons is that I am no longer using CPAP.

I have a Respironics model 1022334 Bipap auto series M machine with 7000 hours on it. It has the carrying case, a card reader and all of the software. Toward the end of using the machine the card was stepped on, and so it needs to be replaced.

Yikes, this forum moves these days.

Someone's got to want this.

Everyone wants the latest and greatest and scared of hours.
How much are you looking to get for it?
Anyone wondering...the smart card is available and around $12.
The DT3500 card reader means that you can use EncoreBasic software easily to get the data. There's some value there.
It would make a good backup machine or even experimentation bilevel machine if someone is toying with bilevel trial.
Remember it has cpap mode..fixed bilevel mode ....and auto adjusting bilevel mode.

I have no idea what it is worth though. PR S1 Auto BiPaps with low hours have been found for between $300-400 though.

Oh, thank you.

I guess I'll take what I get. Phew I didn't know they were that cheap now. Technology is flying away at an amazing rate. What was new is old very quickly now.

And to think I only used it for 2 years.

I hope no one minds if I bump this up every now and then.

It might be useful to someone as a backup, or for someone without insurance and low on funds. But at 7000 hours, it's like a 3 year old machine (assuming 2500 hours per year is average use), only model-wise it's older (the System One 750 and 760 are both newer model Bipap autos).

Secondwindcpap.com has your machine "gently used" (I think this means less than 500 hours) for $579 including 6 month warranty. If I were making an offer on your particular machine, with humidifier included, I probably wouldn't offer you more than $125 including shipping because of age and hours of use and being out of warranty.

I hope this helps, and who knows, you might do better on Craigslist... ?

Good luck!

Give it a bump every now and then. Never know who might be stopping in.
There was a guy the other day whose M series APAP crapped out and he no longer has insurance and money is tight.
Maybe he might be interested. It can be set to almost work like APAP machine too.
Yesterday or the day before maybe was when I saw that post...he's in Florida and was wondering about getting it fixed..has no back up machine so doing without...and I had to tell him that it probably would cost more to fix it than it is worth.

I don't need another machine right now and I really don't have any extra cash since hubby had eye surgery and we have a $2500 deductible to pay off. So my playing with equipment has been put on hold for a while.

I will be honest...the hours will scare some people and that really affects the perceived value.
The DT 3500 Infineer Smart Card reader...can be bought new for $45 or so but they hold their value pretty good.

Have you tried Craigslist?

You know, I'm so grateful that I am pulling myself back to health, and feel so badly for those who suffer, I'm not going to even think about the price too much.

I'm so grateful for your replies. And I hope someone who needs this machine sees this.

Thanks again!
