0.0 AHI is achievable

Post by cobra4x4 » Thu Mar 28, 2013 10:02 am

I'm so happy, I finally achieved a perfect nights sleep according to my S9 Autoset.

I finally got a chin strap and together with my newer Wisp mask I finally got an AHI reading of 0.0

My previous best was 0.4 and that was only a few nights ago without a chin strap, Although I don't mouth breath my wife says that my mouth falls open on occasion usually around 4-5am so I decided to try a chin strap to help keep it closed.

The new Wisp mask has greatly reduced my average AHI to below 1.0 on a daily basis, My Swift FX averaged around 2.0-2.5 with a very few nights in around 1.0-1.1

Congratulations! You've joined the Zero club.
Your key will be at the front desk when you enter. Please tip the receptionist.
I consider my few zero's a gift--like a Dove dark Promise on my nightstand.

Thanks

I should have added that my leak rate was a nice low figure of 3 which contributes to a great nights sleep.

Good news... I get a zero AHI two or three times a month. Unfortunately for me, I find I don't feel as good with a zero AHI as I do with my daily average of around .3. That's just me, though. The good news is that your treatment is working, and I hope you are feeling better as result of conquering apnea. Know that you will probably live several years of a healthy and active life. Hope you will stik around and help others achieve what you have. It's certainly a journey. Sheriff

I assume you mean several MORE years than would otherwise have existed. LOL!

As you have found out, the key is finding the right mask.

When I was using a FFM, my AHI was 2.0 - 4.0. After I switched to an Opus 360, it went to a 1.0.

I now use an Aloha and have to use supplemental O2 due to positional hypoxia, but my AHI is 0 most nights. One or two nights a week it might hit .1 - .2. I feel the same no matter what the number is.

Congrats.

Allen, how does the supplemental O2 work with the Aloha mask?

I use the bleed in adapter between the humidifier and the hose so it works fine.

The PR WISP mask seems to be unavailable at a lot of the online sites. Where did you purchase yours?

I would love to get a Wisp from our hosts, but the last day I can use my Flex card will be 6/13/13.
It's been a long wait, with no end in sight.

I got mine from my DME.
Online retailers are prohibited from selling new product by the suppliers to encourage positive sales/marketing for their new product, Its a contractual thing between the supplier and their contracted vendors (Yes the local DME). The other thing that happens is there is usually a limited amount of initial product available for distribution so they supply their contracted client first ... guess who? Thats right your local DME provider.

Part of the scheme is marketing based as by selling only through the DME, They ensure fitting and usage issues can be directly addressed by the DMEs in person thus creating a positive outcome (Hopefully!). They can eliminate bad product reviews by inexperienced users who have no idea what they are doing (Although I've heard of some real bad DMEs too).
