Anyone who loves the MirageFXnasal find an even better mask?

Post by Jason7 » Sun Mar 24, 2013 4:14 pm

Hi, more than a year ago I switched from the Mirage Softgel nasal to the Mirage FX nasal, which I love as it is so light (and fits fine).
Is there anyone who also has great success with the Mirage FX nasal mask, and has found an even better nasal mask (maybe the Wisp, or the Eson)?
All opinions appreciated.
Thanks.
Jason

Hi again,
This forum helped me tremendously 5 yrs ago when I first started using cpap - thank you all!
Anyone have advice on an alternative, hopefully smaller and/or lighter nasal mask than the MirageFX nasal (which I do like a lot).
I just tried the AirfitN10 -- too heavy on upper lip.
Also tried the Swift FX Nano -- can't get it too stop leaking on my eyes (cushion looks "squashed" - maybe I got a bad cushion?)
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thank you!
Jason

Maybe wrong size or too tight? I have used the Nano and it will seal if properly fitted and sized.
I was even able to use it successfully with the Bella Loops which don't apply much tension at all.
If it is "squashed" I wonder about it being too tight and pulled too much into the face and when that happens these cushions can't inflate properly and you need the inflation factor to get and keep a good seal.

Otherwise..sorry...I have no other experience with the over the nose masks. The Nano has been the only one I have had success with.
Haven't ever tried the ESON as the top headgear thing is a deal breaker for me.
I did try the Wisp but it didn't work out well for me but others have great success with it.
At least the Wisp comes with a fit pack where you can try various sizes but the Nano only comes with the one size you order it with (but it does have other sizes available).

I have the Wisp as one of my back up masks in my Arsenal. I am a P10 nasal pillow user. The Wisp and is a good mask just not for me. I am a side and stomach sleeper so the exhaust/ventilation on the Wisp was hard for me to adjust to. It also leaked on me, but only when I would turn over on to my stomach. So the Wisp I think is a good option. It was pretty comfortable as well. Masks are a very personal thing and it is hard to tell you what to get. I can only tell you what I have tried and why it did or did not work for me. The Eson my uncle uses it and loves it. I tried it on and hated it. So there is an example of how personal it is. I know with the Nano looser is better with it. Also the new mask out right now that you may want to take a look at is the Dream Wear mask. There is a very active thread on it going right now so you could take a look at that. There is some good opinions and information about it there. Good luck and I hope you find something that works for you.

The Wisp is a hundred times better with the silicone frame,
because the frame grips my face and holds the cushion up so it rests LIGHTLY around my nose.
The cloth frame is pathetic, just a shapeless mess.
If you have patience enough to learn how to "ride" one, the Sleepweaver masks might delight you.
