Activa Mask Sizing

Post by Guest » Wed Apr 26, 2006 1:43 pm

Tried to order a Activa mask from cpap.com but after using the sizing guide I was informed that "according to my measurements this was not the ideal mask for me". It gave me a suggested list of masks, two of which I already have, and they sure aren't ideal for me. Spoke with a lady from cpap.com and she suggested a ComfortSelect. Well, I was given a ComforGel when I started CPAP and really don't like it so I'm a little hesitant about the ComfortSelect. I then changed a couple of measurements that were kinda close but stlll got the same message. I have a pretty average head, face and nose so this has me puzzled. Anyone know what I'm missing here? Would like to get the Activa but would like to get the correct size cushion. Any assistance appreciated.

Activa mask sizing

Hi, you're far from the first one with the problem (incl'g me) and you just have to ignore the sizing guide and go with what you feel is right - i.e. I used an UM in a small size prior to the Activa, but the guide told me I'd need a large in the UM, and that the Activa wouldn't work for me, so I got the Activa anyway in a small size (after speaking to some of the tech reps) and it's perfect! I also believe that there is more leeway in sizing with the mask than others, and if you think that e.g. a 'standard' would work for you based on previous experience, it probably will, whereas in other masks it's more necessary to be very exact. The Activa seal is terrific, so slight diffs. in you won't matter as much. Good luck.

I found out recently my Comfort Gel was mis-sized as a medium which, according to the cpap.com folks cross-references to a large Activa. Turns out that I should have been a standard Activa (It may have cross-referenced if the original DME would have measured for the CG instead of guessing). After a reorder to a standard, I am much happier with the Activa than the CG. (I was not a candidate according to the automated sizing either).

Try going though the measurements on cpap.com or Resmed (print them out for reference); then call and have them size to your measurements rather than a cross-reference or depending on the auto-sizer suggestions.

Good idea, Snoozing Gonzo. My ComfortGel is a medium and I'm betting the standard size Activa will work. After the information received here I feel better about ordering the standard size.

According to the site's sizing chart I wasn't a candidate for it either, so I asked my wife, whaddya think, she said "large for that mug of yours", plus I was using a large FF. I have not looked back, this mask works for me, and I had horrible sinus problems, still do, but by rinsing, blowing and strips I manage to sleep.

This is a great mask, just keep it loose.

Sleep well.
