Way OT: Learnt some stuff.....
1 yr + with Facehugger - woohooo - still sucks....ATTENTION NEWBIES: some people may never get "comfortable" with these machines, still miss sleeping facedown, toting it around while traveling is annoying, the expected benefits may never live up to expectations.
That said, bound and determined to stick it out.
Anyway - recently learned a few things:
1. I am willing to twist the throttle on a Kawasaki Hyabusa (sp) until the speedo says 152 mph!
2. In Washington State, 152 mph is a free ride to the Pokey - they don't give you a ticket and let you go.
3. 152 mph costs a LOT of $$$ - final totals are not in, but just paying the attorney to get it reduced from Reckless to Negligent is going for over a grand.
4. I don't need to go 152 mph - (Wifey says I have to write that 500 times on the chalkboard before I can hang out with my brother, who owns the bike, again)
Note: for those that are going to tell me how stupid and dangerous it is - duly noted. For the record, hit that number shortly after dawn out in the desert East of the mountains - 4 lane highway without a car in sight, good weather - never saw the spotter plane they claim clocked the run, was only going about 75 when they flagged me down.

Gee times flies when you're having fun... or gee it's fun when you're flying... or gee get caught flying and the fun comes to a screeching halt. Congrats on the 2 years!

Not that I plan on doing 152 MPH on anything, but just in case, those several Rotary attorney friends, the 3 District Judges, and the 1 federal attorney may come in handy some day. I guess now I have to continue to keep them happy.McSnoresalot wrote:3. 152 mph costs a LOT of $$$ - final totals are not in, but just paying the attorney to get it reduced from Reckless to Negligent is going for over a grand.

I don't think my 95 Saturn could reach 152 mph if i drove it off a cliff. I still have a motorcycle driver's license but i always remembered the MSI? instructors statement from the first lesson: " There are old bikers and there are bold bikers, but there are NO old, bold bikers"

I have also learned a few things along the way:
1) I learn the best when I learn things the stupid way.
2) I still do stupid things even when I know better, sometimes just for the experience.
3) I tend to have a lot of fun doing stupid things, and end up meeting the most interesting people.
4) If you don't push your limits once in a while, you are probably just taking up space.
Please do be careful...there are a lot of ways for things to end badly when going that fast on a bike. Then again, I took a dump on a bicycle last summer, and that earned me an ambulance ride to a trauma center.

My parents' Rambler only went up to 90 mph on the speedo, but one of my HS chums "clocked" me at 95.
Luckily no bears on the highway that day.

You did this, without booze or a NASCAR jacket, impressive, my old 1950 would only go 135 mph in a quarter mile, I soon figured out it was unwise, never was taken alive for it. Jim

I have a BMW R1100 (see my avatar) that does it much more quietly that any Kaw. Mac, you should buy the DVD World's' Fastest Indian with Anthony Hopkins. The World's Fastest Indian is a 2005 New Zealand biographical film based on the Invercargill, New Zealand speed bike racer Burt Munro and his highly modified Indian Scout motorcycle. Munro set numerous land speed records for motorcycles with engines less than 1000 cc at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah in the late 1950s and into...McSnoresalot wrote:Holy CATS!!!! - it's been TWO YEARS on the detestable machine, not 1 - wow.

So, were you solo or double up?! In '77 we had our 750 Kaw and 900 R90/6 out doing 105, each of us with a rider. Ahhh, the 'good ole days' when tickets weren't a small fortune, and traffic in West TX was friendly-er. Keep the rubber side down and the shiny side UP.
