2nd try giving up

Post by pudzzy » Sat Mar 16, 2013 10:17 pm

As anyone that has read my other posts know I started to try masks etc last year before I had to have an operation ..My operation was canceled. One of the reasons was I could not get used to the mask etc.. I changed company's & these people are really trying hard to help me . My 2nd chance at the operation is 3 weeks away. Still cant get used to my machine or mask. I have copd so they are trying me on a BIPAP machine .Got a wisp mask BUT still having problems breathing with the mask. My level is 4 6 but as soon as they put my level up my mask leaks..

I tried the larger wisp & its too large for me . I DO HAVE A LARGE NOSE BUT ITS THIN . I HAVE TO WAIT UNTILL MON FOR MY TECH TO BE BACK IN HER OFFICE .. I WENT TO THE HOSPTAL TODAY WHERE MY OPERATION WILL BE & THEY SAID DONT FRET THEY WILL PUT ME IN ICU..,

I HAVE BEEN TRYING SINCE LAST YEAR WHEN I GAVE UP ON MASK & MACHINE NOW ITS BEEN 2 MONTHS AGAIN TRYING ALL KINDS OF MASKS ,MACHINES, SETTING ETC.. IM SO UPSET & FRUSTATED (Sorry just realized my cap lock was on ) I'm giving up even though I know I need the help . I keep getting head aches ,ear pain & a feeling like my head is in a vise. I have tried watching TV, reading, taking sleeping pills I ,cant even go to sleep with mask on ..I'm so tired I sometimes don't know what I'm doing.. Have an appointment for overnight sleep test in hospital June, maybe I will give up until then ..I did 2 overnight home test that both confirmed sleep apnea.. I guess I'm just venting anger now

Are you saying that your prescription pressure is 4-6. That is very low and often feels suffocating to people. You may actually need it a bit higher to feel more comfortable.

Can you give us a list of masks you have tried and how each one worked (or failed) you? Which masks do you have currently in your posession? Maybe we can give you some advice on how to make a mask work better for you. Some masks may actually fit you okay, but need some adjustments to get them right. My mask was perfect in the sleep study (fitted by the sleep tech), but it took me 6 weeks and smaller headgear to get it right at home. Other masks may simply never work for you since everybody is built differently.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
